Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Do you still like your job at Optum?

Seems like a good question to start the new year and week off with... I'll start - NO.

No severance, escorted from premises. No Xmas bonus, miserly 3% 401k match only if you participate. Optum bought out medical group and things became even worse. All the lip service, fake smiles, scripted robotic voiced careerists . Tons of clueless millennials and contractors.

I hated it so much that I showed up today and the same b–ch that harasses me every week, harassed me again today; and as usual my do nothing manager did not support me, so I quit. This was my best day at Optum!

Yes. Case in point my wife got regular 10-12% annual bonus for their entire company. No difference just based on salary grade. 401k match? How about 7%. She got nearly 25k in pension payout at barely 5yrs there when she left on top of her 401k. Her new job - 14% bonus for entire company. No matter if your a lowly call center. 8% 401k match. Christmas bonus. One of the absolute best employers. There are better out there than UHG. Way better. I am jealous.

No. But is it any better anywhere else? I've been at the company a long time so I really don't have anything to compare with–most people I know outside of work don't work for large corporations. UHG seems more evil than most companies, but if you read books that talk about what's going on with jobs, AI, the wage gap, offshoring, etc., as horrible as it feels to work here, the pay is great, the benefits are good... Is it better elsewhere?

The correct question is “How much you hate this company? ( in a scale of 99-100).

Run......

HR reps will not help you resolve any issues of micromanagement. Layoffs will continue as they only want to hire people who they do not have to pay benefits to. Optum will reap what they sow soon enough so bail out of a sinking ship.

Ive been checking every day just to see my qfiniti audit score. Since the new auditors came on board my scores keep going down ? I went from 100’s to F for fail!!!

A wee bird 🐦 told me that many of these auditors were part of the LAYOFFS. Hmnnnn...Kkkk...Karma?

Absolutely NOT. Just had my 5 year anniversary and not a word of thanks from ANYONE, no recognition or incentive. Yearly raises are a joke. You can have 4 and 5 on review and will only get maybe .05-.20 cent raise. Management plays favorites and allows them to not carry the same work load as their colleagues. HR is no help, you call them and their advice is maybe you should look for another position .... bonuses/QVC is a complete sh– bucket. They have unobtainable goals for you to meet to get QVC so you basically have to let your calls and work suffer to met the goals. Bravo points, a joke. They refuse to give us point for recognition which blows my mind BC we end up being taxed out of our check on whatever points they give you. I have almost perfect attendance and stats are acceptable but still I am micro managed since this last bout of layoffs as my supervisor was laid off and now I report to the department manager. Then ultimately the pay, we live check to check and I know people who work 2 and 3 jobs just to survive and for this company to have such prevalent stock prices and the value of the company as a whole it is a slap in the face, thinking CEO David Wichmann was paid $18.1 million in 2018, a slight increase from his pay the year before. Andrew Witty, who was named CEO of UnitedHealth's Optum unit in March 2018, was paid $21.2 million in 2018. The Minnetonka-based insurer disclosed Wichmann and Witty's pay in a proxy statement filed late Friday. But ohhhhhhh how did and how were they able to make that much money, off our backs, our backs carry the work load and deal with issues and live day to day fearing what they will decide to do to keep their stocks up and investors happy oh and their 20million yearly income while their employees are making as low 30k a year. Do not get me wrong I am blessed to have a job but the layout/management of this company is one of the worst.

Nope. When Optum bought out our medical group things began to change. People began to sense the bulls eyes on their backs. The micromanagement by unqualified supervisors became unbearable. People were miserable and dreaded each work day and felt stuck in a rut with nowhere else to go. There was no HR department, just contractors who gave lip service and were miserable themselves. For ones own self worth a few of us took the high road and got out and on with our lives. No one deserves to work in a toxic environment.

Well I lost it last week after almost 20 years. Stock at all time high and they brought on several contractors on my team 2 months ago because they were going to rif FTEs who have been with the company (al on my team for at least a decade). And they kept the all the contractors after letting us ago. I asked for an explanation but did tnot get one. I also asked for an exit interview didn’t get that either.

No. I’m actively looking for employment elsewhere. I don’t trust this company at all.

Most f'ed up place I have ever worked. Morale in toilet. Greed of this place is what is wrong with healthcare.

Sounds like an inquiry from a UHG HR representative. To clue you in... nobody likes the constant stress hanging over their head wondering if today is the day they get let go. Employees are asking themselves what did I do to deserve this. I get along with my supervisor, I get my tasks/projects done on time, I have good reviews and overall ratings.

And my reward? Little or no raise, cut or reduced benefits and the list goes on. I think it is safe to say, employee morale is at an all-time low. So happy I left Optum...
