I love reading the articles that they raised driver pay and couldn't find drivers. The P&D guys were bumped to competitive wages but not linehaul. Dock guys maxxed at $16 an hour when every other company starts at $18. They fired the entire sales force. There goes all your revenue generators. They hired guys at bottom dollar and got what they paid for. Insurance claims were out the bu-t. I am surprised the company lasted as long as it did.

For linehaul, they bumped the mileage to .65/mile but removed every other claim. So, if you weren't actually driving then you weren't getting paid. Broke down with a flat for 45 mins, no pay. Drop and hook a set, no pay. Waiting 2 hours at a meet point, no pay. I knew guys that waited at certain spots for 4-5 hours only to return to the original terminal. Total waste of a day for that guy.

The company had potential as it had reliable lanes. Poor management just drove it into the ground. Dispatch would not allow empty miles every other month. As a result, terminals would back up 30-40 trailers. Great service tactic... wait for the trailers to sit at origin for 45 days before we move the freight.

My brother has been at Central for 43 years.
He told me today he heard 12/18/21 will be Centrals last day. Many of the terminal mangers are leaving like rats off a sinking ship.

I can only speak on what I know and that is the company has a very uncertain future. I've been a manager here for a year now and things are the worst I have ever seen anywhere. Over 100 drivers have left, countless lay offs and budget cuts and multiple terminals with expired leases. Joining this company would be a bad idea.

The bankruptcy hearing is coming up more closings to come

I would suggest going there and actually looking at what you’d be working in. But hey disregard all the comments on this post I’m sure nobody really knows what they’re talking about. Obviously desperation has played a part in your decision. Good luck.

I was a customer and they handled 80% of my Central Florida LTL traffic... dropping them was the best move I made. Poor management, poor decision-making skills, would reach out to my customers with unreasonable requests, spilled haz materials and did not follow protocol.
They were a mess a year ago, I see from the posts that it is just getting worst.

I was standing there when upper management told our terminal manager to just " put bodies in seats" . Drivers are dropping like flies on top of maintenance and dock workers at a breaking point. Hours cut no raises except the p&d Drivers

  • Layoffs and terminals closing yet no 1 has a answer

I’m a P&D driver. Man we don’t have enough freight to run a route. So they combining two or three route together. I deliver what I could. And pick up what I could. Everyday I’m bringing back 6 to 8 stops. And only picking up one or two. I never seen this place operate like this. They hiring who ever apply with no experience. We have new driver that could barely back up. Or get freight deliver. One driver let with 6 stops and only could get two delivered in 10 hrs. I see this place closing soon. I’m ride it out.

RUN FOREST RUN!!! Whatever they tell you about CFL, you better believe, nothing at this janky company will change until they clean house starting at with the VP’s. Every VP left has no actual education pertaining to their job. They all got there because they started off on the dock or they have friends who got them there. At this point if you’re considering CFL or if you’re a rehire, you must love being a kiss a-s and plan on retiring unless they doors shut first.

ALL SMART EDUCATED PEOPLE WILL SEE THIS PLACE IS A CIRCUS RAN BY A BUNCH OF MISERABLE CLOWNS.

Raising drivers pay across the board to try and retain drivers but screwing maintenance and the dock workers. Hours cut shifts cut budgets cut but hey raise the drivers pay. Another poor move by this companies you cut and move things and get mad over the consequences. Put this company down

The place is a ticking time bo-b. The few execs that are left are all in cahoots and bully everyone and see no repercussions for it. They’ll take your money and all your time and won’t think twice about it. Only way you can get into a position that makes a decent amount of money is if you know someone. Must be a sweet life collecting a check and not making an effort to be a teammate. Peace suckas!

Two major contracts are coming up and at this point just shut the doors . When you lay people of and they let out a sigh of relief there's a issue.

Who going to want to buy central freight. Bunch of beat up trucks. And Wilson old trailers. They barely own terminals. Just close it down. So people could move on. Both customer and employees. Central frieght loss a lot of customer and employees.

Well sense Knight-Swift purchased AAA Copper maybe good old Jerry should strike another deal with them and dump Central Freight Knight is looking to aquire more LTL companies would be a good way to turn things around first thing would be to dump the spineless management time fire all the break terminal managers and get rid of 95% of the clueless Dispatchers and shift supervisors.
The regular employees are not the problem.
Jerry Moyes is a modern day Gordon Gecko who doesn't give a cr@p about anybody but himself and the all mighty dollar$$$$
Sell please sell Jerry 🙏 to Knight
