Omaha reporting the obvious. Once 1 man crews those positions are gone forever. Road personnel need to plan accordingly. PTC and EMS are like the EOT replacing the caboose. UTU is so unnecessary that the UP isn't even including them in the process during this round of negotiations. Conductors will probably need a 2002 to 2004 date or more. Projected by Omaha for what it's worth. Ominous signs and discussions in Omaha.

We don't need unions here anymore! We own Seller's a– at
UTU.
Good luck to all that last very little
40% cut so how many jobs lost would that be approx?
These are the things that make life exciting! Survival of the fittest... yeah baby!!
Just when you thought things were bad haha..
It sure is tough to stay positive working on the union Pacific.
Same in Texas. Resume already out. 40% cut is Omahas goal so we're told. Already ready here in Texas.
Meh. 8 years in and I've given up on this company. I've had almost a dozen jobs in my life, and this place has been the worst when it comes to the way they treat their employees. Just another pit stop on the road of life. I got the resume updated last month, and now that the holidays are over it's time to go looking for another job. I won't sit around and wring my hands waiting for the day I get furloughed. I will take command of my life and not let those ninnys in Omaha just tell me that maybe I need help with the five steps of grief. Unbelievable.
Geez. Judging the the sheer quantity of posts, UP has got to be one of the worst companies to work for.
It’s going t be happening real soon. Being told by reliable sources in Omaha that I can’t name Over the road trains that have no work will be Engineer only. Also company is getting rd of brakeman on locals so that will leave very few spots for the craft of Conductor and Brakeman. This is going to be happening on other roads as well.
Looking that way in California. A lot of layoffs happening but, what comes next wont just be a temp layoff they're saying. Get ready this should be an interesting year.
I have a 2004 date. We've already been told by the union that it looks like a date to have just to work in a yard. Keeping fingers crossed and it is what it is.
