Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

What if UP left Omaha?

Would more people want to work there and could they bring in more college educated talent if they were headquartered elsewhere?

there are people in omaha working for UP that were born there, went to college there, and have never been elsewhere. one of these included a recent ceo that retired. it's not moving out of omaha.

You also have to consider the people left in omaha have years of yes man training. All the moving packages they would have to offer to move these people. They dont want to have to condition free thinking people with new ideas into the sheeple working there now.

If up left Omaha and that’s a HUGE if they would still have to combat the toxic work environment, the high turnover rate of management level employees leaving after a few years, and the mass layoffs that are now the norm for the company. They would have to also move somewhere that would give them better incentives then what they have/are currently receiving, and yea that’s possible but with the company currently not hiring and randomly shedding employees they are not going to be bringing new jobs into whatever state/city they move to (other then the jobs that will be used to build the new headquarters) which most states look at when giving out incentives.

Why does it even matter? The conspiracy theorists out want to believe that a merger is coming. They also want to believe what "reliable sources" tell them, and report it to the rest of us. My answer to this question is no one cares really anymore what the UP does.

What if UP merges with another company and they keep the other company’s headquarters?

No they probably get more applicants in Nebraska from locals because it’s out in the middle of nowhere besides Omaha. As for field employees nobody gives a rats a– where the headquarters is.

That would be the best thing that could happen. At least they’d be willing to do an honest days work en mass.

In order for this Company to hire again after this sh– storm they will have to drop leaflets in Mexico.

You can’t run from your reputation. But I am sure they would still be able to find people to work for them wherever they are
