Thread regarding Norfolk Southern Corp. layoffs

Bellevue Locomotive Shop

Bellevue lost 1 PF who went back to his laborer rights and 1 clerk. As people come back from medical they are furloughing the lowest person, at least in the machinist. Electricians promoted 1 to management and brought back 1 so they have all their journeyman still. All these furloughs and forcing overtime.

As a laid off employee, I just wanted to say thank you so much to the management and shareholders. I have a child with extensive medical care needs and my family and I were wondering how we could get rid of that annoying health insurance, go into an unsurmountable debt, lose our home and have to choose between medication or food... I generally hope you’re able to achieve your goal of making thousands on top of your billions... I hope me pay check puts you over the top...

G&W was announcing that they were gonna do precision railroading, but then sold out to a new hedge fund that stopped that c-ap and actually approved some new hiring sessions. I think that being just a short line group they know they cant afford to screw over their customers.

That doesn't apply. Only family members can't supervise family. And if you get to a Senior GF or higher level, you cant even work in the same shop.

Hahaha. I love how management get on here and try’s to make everyone feel like they’re weak or wrong for retaliating after they literally put people people in harms way be taking their jobs away so 12 parasite billionaires can have just a little bit more. You your turn is coming management... just like they turned on us, they’re going to do the same to you.... don’t think you’re special

You obviously haven’t worked here long enough to see the downward spiral this company has taken. I’ve been with them for 15 yrs and it’s a night and day difference from what it use to be. Call it weak or what not but this company will sh– on you in a heartbeat. You’re just a number no matter how hard or how little you work. There are no incentives or pat on the back for going above and beyond. They’re driving this company in the ground, not the employees. You’ll see in due time.

i don’t get the the toxic work environment people develop and choose to destroy a company from within? does this S uclk yes. is it unfair? yes. do i feel bad people are on the street? you bet! but to do everything possible to destroy a company and good jobs? i don’t get. do you think this tactic will work in the end? i say look to CSX they have gone further than us an to what extent. all they will do is simply replace you. will they be as skilled? most likely not but in the end who has the job! oh but did you teach the man! you showed them?? i tell you what, you want change? well it’s hard and unfair but i tell you this it’s worth fighting and for the lay down, slow work, get hurt crowd. this is the stuff the weak do! i tell you what if i loose my job because of any of the for mentioned this will tick me off to no avail!!! and it should you as well. if you don’t like this place then get out of the way! i for one need a job!! that said now you can comment company man or what ever you feel appropriate doesn’t make a hill of beans to me i don’t respect your kind anyway!! your weak and will fail in the end. see you at Walmart cart pusher. oh by the way it’s a non-union job.

doing more with less. PSR. this is how it works and more of it will happen. we are all learning how to work again. most will adapt, the ones that know what hard work is and then others that do the minimum and thriving off the backs of the doers and then the others. you know the ones. the ones who do more to get out of work all together. it will all feel very unfair but push through this and start looking at how if we all do a little more the easier the PSR transition will be. solidarity across crafts is what we need. not the victim path but one of pride. this PSR isn’t going to just go away anytime soon so now we must all learn how to work again. even today with the reduced workforce who among us is going home totally drained of energy because of all the work we do. don’t get me wrong furloughs are horrible but will be part of PSR. now we must preserve what remains!

That’s the way their system works. Forcing overtime is cheaper than paying us our wages and benefits. It’s up to the men being forced overtime to ride the brakes on these greedy folks, make them bury this company, they’re doing a mighty fine job at it so far
