Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Unnecessary Roughness

The company could be upfront about their intentions to actively decrease the cost of their workforce by any means possible. They could be honest about their policy of decreasing hours when they increased hourly wage. They could be honest to the public when closing clubs rather than trying to mask it with strangely timed news releases about raising wages. They could be honest about closing stores due to union activism rather than releasing smokescreens about "plumbing problems". They could be transparent to their associates about their intentions going forward rather than making the whole thing one big cluster truck of a guessing game. The company could honor their own 3 basic beliefs rather than making them the punchline of a joke. The company could be upfront with their long term employees when they choose to release them for cost control reasons and give them an honorable means to leave the company with compensation and dignity rather than writing them up for ridiculous, bogus, petty, and often imaginary breaches of company policy.

The company is making record profits, so they are well capable of doing all of the above, but yet they choose not to. Management has sold their soul to the devil at the altar of the almighty dollar.

If this does not sound like a company to which you would want to rent a portion of your life , do not apply.

I made it out. I found a job where my talents and attitude are appreciated and I am actively warning all of my friends and colleagues, one of which is interviewing.......let's just say very, very soon.

Friends don't let friends work in this place.

Ok... this is a little ridiculous. I was an Assitant for years and am now on the Walmart side (and going back as soon as I my schedule permits.) I’m a long term associate, I have never seen much of what is described here. I’ve worked for individual GMs MMS and RGMs that s—ed, but overall, they’ve taken care of me and my family when I needed it.

@2ysi yes it's ok to do that. It's called retail arbitrage. Lots of people do it. It's not illegal and it's not against any rules. It's just someone seeing and opportunity and taking it. I've done it myself many times. I don't care for management just like most people on here, but I have to speak up when they're not doing anything wrong also.

If a manager is buying marked down items and selling them out side of the club on an internet site and the CM and every other manager knows it and does NOTHING about it is that OK? just wondering

After 13 years at this hell on earth I was told I was not meeting team lead material I was demoted to part time which my schedule is 20 hours are u kidding me? They had stuff piled up on me from years ago such as lost keys found keys took money home in vest went home got money returned it... taking selfies on the clock while others "busted their a–" I have worked hard for this company but no more it's the most unorganized mess I have ever been involved with all the good managers gone they knew what was coming. I used my open door now on to associate relations for yet more than likely a waste of time. Anyone else out there had this happen and the bogus bull sh– they have on you is just that bs.

lets be honest. The dishonesty and deviousness you have described has been the way ALL local clubs have been run since the were created. Local management ALWAYS lies about and twists everything. They ALWAYS try to hide the truth from hourlies.

When PPTO first became active one of our managers told a person who was looking at the computer at their accruing PPTO that even though it was there right in front of them that that still did not mean they would get it or be able to use it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So the company hiding truth from associates and the public should not be surprising. Honesty has never been on of the company's core beliefs.

Regionals are the worst. MM's are issued knee pads when they accept the job.

AMEN! There are no souls CM level & above. Just a bunch of tools towing the co line. Behaving with zero integrity, lying to honest hard working people and just terrible character flaws in every single one of them. CM's, Market managers, regionals & home office all know when people are being singled out for bogus made up performance "concerns" but they all cower, plug their ears and close their eyes because they don't know what's right anymore. They are s—ed in by the almighty dollar at any & all expense
