sounds like another example of poor senior management by UP if they're unable to control their costs and maximize productivity. you know what's expensive and not productive? hiring and training hoards of new conductors in large classes only to lay everyone off at the conclusion of training and have the majority you just trained for 4 months quit and find other jobs. But UP is gonna UP.
