Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Verizon Retiree Discount

Retiree's 25% discount is nothing like the 50% employee discount.

Employee's discount applies to pretty much everything but the taxes and Gov fees

Retiree discount only applies to the plan charge... so it's closer to 14% off the total bill.

So much for taking care of our retirees.

I took all my lines from VZ to t mobile with the 25% retiree discounts, t Mobile was still cheaper AND they paid off any phones u were paying monthly on. The most important thing is their customer service is hands down a million times better esp since being a Verizon emp-retiree I coujd only speak to a specific group who were clueless

In my neck of the woods they call T-Mobile “T-Maybe”...unreliable for business or traveling through remote areas. Between the 25% discount and my current employers BYOD stipend I currently only pay for 40% of my Vz bill. Will revisit if my circumstances change

As a Verizon employee the discount isn’t that great. It would be cheaper for me to go elsewhere but for now it is only a few $$ a month and I work there. I find it funny that my manager and director both have non Verizon plans for their personal phones though. You’d think with all that extra money and a free work phone they could afford it.

Ask any TMobile employee guy. We share towers and run into them all the time. Verizon is he worst by far taking care of their employees on everything.

OP, seriously, this is what's messing up your mind, the 25% savings you get off the lone data part of your wireless bill? Is that conundrum, the main sticking point, that is keeping you from retiring, and moving on to greener pastures?
Perhaps the retirement buy-outs need rethinking ;-)
I agree that FiOS should have always been free to employees, as should have been cellular and, as a goodwill gesture, to retirees as well but, unfortunately, that is not the hand that we have been dealt.

Discarded Verizon and went TMobile all the way.

T mobile is good if you're over 55, Visible has a new group pay plan that is priced about the same. Probably better to keep the money in the family.

You can thank our VP of HR Operations for that. I'll probably be changing as well.

I changed to TMobile 2 years ago. Over 55 plan, 2 lines, unlimited everything, $60 total a month for 2 lines with autopay. I’ve been happy with the service. Much cheaper than Vz even with retiree discount. Check it out.
