I'm eager and excited to hear about the next round of furloughs tomorrow. My fingers are crossed that it hits bellevue hard and knocks out all those miserable people.

In case it wasn't noticed, this has nothing to do with how hard or how little a person worked.

It doesn't matter if you worked every minute and put out the finest Locomotive, even one that could fly the freight cars to their destination.

They are cutting to chase an irrelevant number that only matters to a handful of people. People who do not even care about the Railroad, and definitely not its people.

This is no ones fault. This is just the current trend we have to sail through.

In awhile they will be back to running a railroad, not chasing a unicorn, and many of us will go back to enjoying our job and coworkers.

Until then, make the best of the hand you are dealt...prepare for the fact this isn't quite over yet, and make decisions that are best for you.

Would be great to see Unions pull together and become stronger, but most just want to go about their business and could careless what anyone else is doing.

When given the chance to have a voice, people will choose what is comfortable, and will just pick what they know or like, not what they need.

Good luck to all. Hope they stop soon, cause that is the only thing going to make the difference.

But, keep blaming it on the senior guys, or the union. Funny thing, the senior guys sometimes go without the union to help keep jobs they spent the most time campaigning for. All, so the younger guys might have a place to be. Without bumps, being up the roster means nothing. The more senior guys need the younger guys working a job just as much.

There is only one person or thought to blame. Band against that as a brotherhood, and maybe a Union might be more powerful.

But working harder isn't going to stop this madness. Just need to protect the job you are on and make it the most important that you can.

Happy holidays.

You never “hustled” lol. I though I worked with lazy people at other jobs but you guys take it to an all new level.

You’ll be hustling again once the “young bucks” are all gone.

We have earned that young buck. We paid our dues. We use to be go getters like you. Our time of hustling is over. Get over it!

Rumor has it they’re gonna lay off from the top of seniority rosters in order to force some of the guys who won’t retire out. I also heard that whoever makes it through the cuts is going to be rewarded with free 100% coverage insurance, all jobs will be F/S,S/S,and S/M, and a $5/hr raise. Things are looking up!

It's sad but I've actually seen a layoff happen on Dec 23. Now that's especially dirty.

None of these people know any facts. The only thing we really know, is they need 600 more people, system wide by end of year. So good luck to all and Merry Christmas from NS

It's always the first week of the month. Probably a ritual from here out in 2020 as well. Someone here said it has something to do with some law regarding paying for retraining if they layoff over a certain %.
