West Colton, whats the truth?

So Ive been hearing conflicting rumors about this yard. One side says that its going down in December and another says there bringing back some furloughs. Yeah yeah I know this is the norm for the railroad. But some real hard proof would really help out here. Does anyone have solid information? Will this yard be turned into a flat switch yard? Is PSR stabilizing? And for god sakes is there life after West Colton?

flat switch everything to 5.000 car a day total.

Proviso never humped that many cars. They shut down the ones that did not meet their goal of 3k cars a day. Nlr is the only yard on the system that has achieved this and is maintaining it. The rest of y'all bye bye hump yards.

Lmao, NLR hump yard is the number one hump on the system. Knowbody can keep up with us not even the biggest yard of North Platte. NLR humps 2300 to 2900 cars a day.

Just keep your head up, stay safe and during your downtime look for something better. There are plenty of jobs out there alot better than U.P. First thing though is your going to have to detox from UP. Your gonna have to learn to be a decent human being. Gonna need to learn how to treat someone with respect, not backstab, or bully or you may find yourself in a situation where a UP shield isnt there to protect you. Come to terms with the fact that your not rich or well off, your not even close and youve most likely dug yourself into massive debt and you had better start downsizing asap.
Just be pro active and accept the things you cannot change.

Vena made it clear that only two humps are within the PSR standard.

Humps are efficient when they handle large volumes of traffic and are located at the right places, Vena noted.

Bailey Yard in North Platte, Neb., the world’s largest classification yard, is one of them.

“I think North Platte’s going to be there for a long time,” he says. “We’re asking it to work harder though.”

Englewood Yard in Houston also will remain in operation, Vena says. “Houston’s growth area,” Vena says. “We expect that hump to be efficient and stay there.”

And that’s it! So prepare West Colton to go to flat switching. Along with the rest of the hump yards in operations.

I don’t know if you have noticed, but most flat switching yards are contracted.

I wouldn't count on anything but being furloughed. It's pretty pathetic that the company is loving employees being on edge about their jobs.

PSR doesn’t allow for much other then cutting to barebones your more likely to see people get cut then called back so I’d bet cuts are coming
