My friend is working as VP in a US branch. He is from India on 2yr contract. Will the layoff affect him?

Forced BE ranking and some areas were asked to rate Unsatisfactory too for this year end - so that the employees can be let go with out any SUB - what a cold hearted thing to do - this forced rating is such a bad practice - when is this going to STOP???. The guy who started this is no more (good riddance) , but some bad practices started by him are being held as if they are like golden rules! Some managers use this forced rating as an excuse to remove existing team to bring their own people in- the talk is how the the company does not want BAs or PMs - yes a developer would/could do a BA/PM job on the side - is this a joke or what? How do they measure who is a developer (not by post or job title) - the number of times they check in and check out the code - so a bad developer who has many iterations to fix the code will be a super STAR in the eyes of BNY management - I think BNY will reduce to a mom & pop shop- one guy in every team will do all the work and shut down the office when he goes for lunch or gets sick - and that guy would be the Manager who is a super star who has laid off everyone in his team with a BE!

BONY Published number of job postings and the rumor of mass lay-off? What’s going here, this BE is simply making a easy way for managers to take perfect revenge on an employee that are threat and challenge to them, very weak way of showing power!

February like last year is real, but other times, god only knows... last October there was a post published here saying in 2 weeks, there is a massive lay-off, and nothing happen...

There was full force security on black Friday when it was a skeleton crew building at 240. People already got laid off and it's going to continue

A lower Jan. Sub plan wouldn't prevent the age discrimination suits. Also, once their operating under staffed, or right sized in their view. They can't afford the run to the exits without a sub cushion.

Sounds like BS! I saw many people cleaning off desks and taking things home. These were my departments VPs & MDs.

I suspect they needed to break up the number laid off to skirt the WARN act. That is what they did in January/February this year. Many will go in December - more in January. That’s how they avoid it getting into the news.

Wouldn’t surprise me - probably want to come out with a lower sub plan in 2020 and use that instead of the current plan of 2 weeks for every year...

Haha! A round of layoffs takes a long time to prep. They can’t turn that on a dime.
