UP Taking OMTs to Court to Recoup Relocation Costs. Really?

Credible sources (HR managers and OMTs) say that UP has and will continue to stoop to recouping relocation and training costs for any OMT who leaves within a year of being hired, or any other manager who quits within a year of relocation by suing them, no matter how long they have been with the company.

Can anyone confirm this? The only think I can think of that is worse than working for UP is dealing with them in court like a bitter spouse (#BeenThereDoneThat). Can I really be sued for quitting my job because I hate it and found something better?

Must be the guy that thought it was unfair getting stuck in a 2 year phone agreement in exchange for a free $500 phone, then having to pay for the phone if you left early.

Why ask a lay-off board all the info you need is in the agreement you signed. finish out the year and quit like everybody else. Also hr managers aren’t a credible source of anything

All the information about this company and their unethical behavior is pretty much out of the box. Anyone who knowingly accepts a relocation package as a manage should know they just signed a 1 year deal with the devil. I thought managers were smarter than this.

They make a lot of money on these relocation packages. I don’t feel sorry for them

Made a deal with the devil, plain and simple. Ride it out then go!

When you accept a relocation package, you agree that you will not separate yourself from the company for one year or you are subject to having to repay the cost of the relocation package. It isn’t a secret- it’s there in black and white in the paperwork.
