Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

HCL not honoring the 60 day notice

Be fair warned, you get your 60 day notice and 2 weeks before your final date you are supposed to get your letter outlining your final pay, severence, bonus payout if eligible and info about cobra, etc
Well if you are expecting this be careful because at last minute you'll get a letter extending your last day and with a new end date and the words "or later date"
So if you have a new job line up that you want be prepared to not get your final payout as you will need to quit so you can start that new job, I swear HCL is doing this on purpose to get people frustrated enough so they'll walk away and HCL gets away with not paying the severence, etc
We have 3 coworkers going through this now and to say they are p-ss-d is putting it mildly

Who is corporate?

That’s the main part of the business that makes money globally

Its not just XBS who have also been outsourced to HCL in the past 12 months. This has affected hundreds of people globally and not just the GIS/XBS bubble. In addition others have just been laid off, at least you have had time to look for another job whilst being employed by HCL!

Yeah... 3 other people in my department have gotten their 2 week notice letter, but not me. I’m assuming this means they’re extending me, but there’s been no communication at ALL! How is this allowed? So unfortunate that after years of hard work this is how we’re treated. I hate being strung along and just want to know when I can get out of this company!!

Just start the new job and stop going to work at Xerox – see how long you can get away with it!

Completely true. Heard at my core the 60 day notice is a start of letting you go. Then they string you along until they need you. If you leave you get nothing.

Everything HCL does comes with a price, you're all set thinking you will get released and one day, yes one day before my end date I got told I was extended and my job is already 100% transitioned, of course what I did takes 2 people in Guatemala to do and they still can't get it done right or on time, they all just s—!!
Admit it Xerox, you F'd up royally, HCL will be your major downfall

Well I doubt anyone is going to a lawyer to complain that a company keeps extending their position and wont lay them off.

The title is a little misleading making you assume they dont give 60 days notice. They are giving you the notice but havent finalized end date. I suspect for most that will be extended as they cant do the work.
At this point they stopped sending the 60 days notices since they realized they are not going to hit any of the timelines.

In the original letter announcing the 60 day notice it does say the date may be extended or shortened. If they let you go early they would pay you till the end of the 60 days. Probably no severance in that case.Still it's nice to jerk folks around like that. Also why is this not posted on the HCL page!?!

12lyYesh-sok You can chose your end date. Now I’m not saying you should leave ASAP like other posters who want to make decisions with emotions instead of considering life implications but you do have some control of the situation. Don’t forget that!

@12lyYesh-bhj I have heard that a few people from group 1 cores are staying on as SME to help with data cleanup/transitions of other cores to HCL outsource. Wouldn’t call these permanent jobs although at this pace should last for a few years (unless a Xerox sale occurs) and no company can guarantee employment that long.

How is any of that even legal?
How can someone keep changing the date you are released and even worse, keep the details of that release away from you?
It’s not like I get to choose when I start the job so how do they justify the same treatment as it ends?
Does that sound like a binding agreement?
Has anyone gone to a lawyer yet about it?
This is not even humane. Wow

Another thing I have been hearing is that Executive Leadership at some XBS/GIS cores have been telling some employees that HCL & Xeroz may be changing their original numbers and keeping "X" amount of people in the states to do their jobs and that they may be "safe." This sounds very suspicious to me and gives me a bad feeling, unless something is in writing, like the very detailed explanation of the outsourcing plan, do not trust these rumors. Do what is best for you.

Wow it almost sounds like HCL doesn’t give a sh– about Xerox people & their “new” employees: it’s almost as if this whole rebadge was a ruse to offshore everyone...if only we had a leaked slide deck and incompetent email from HCL detailed the offshoring plan 9 months ago...

I agree, it's because the outsourced work is turning into a disaster and they need to cover their asses, their so called transition timeline will easily be off by 6 months to a year before all badged over are gone, that's my guess
