Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Union Pacific Transparency

I just figured I would post about the transparency with some did you know questions. Did you know that all employees who have a company cell phone are being tracked? People are actually looking to see where all of you go. Also where you go while off duty. That is a huge abuse of privacy and a huge misuse of authority and trust!! Did you know that when drive cams were installed everyone was told that they only record when there is a triggering event? Also a lie! The cameras are always recording, and yes they are watching the footage even when there is no triggering event.Did you know that the auditors are combing through the data to get rid of people that others don’t want around? Again a huge abuse of trust and power? Did you know that when someone wins a case against the auditors, they will comb through the data until they can at least make the claim of wrong doing even when it’s not the truth? Let that sink in. Everything I have said here I have seen and is true!

I would strongly agree with the tracking scenario, except there's what's called a US constitution. NO company has any right to track any device regardless of ownership. That would bring up an illegal search and seizure issue. If the company were to track a device, it would have to be justified through another thing that's called a warrant. A warrant can't just be obtained because the UP wants one. I'm not saying the UP wouldn't track someone, but they would have a serious fight on their hands if it were ever discovered.

Who gives a damn about policy if ur a UP manager u should be looking for another job anyway. Ok leave your phone on but leave it on the charger on ur nightstand at ur house. Use ur imagination. Amazing that these senior managers that want you to always be accessible never seem to answer the phone when you call them at 2 am when the sh– hits the fan.

If you're a manager or an OMT being used as a manager, you are not allowed to turn your phone off and you're required to have it with you at all times except for when you're on vacation/PTO.

When UP (or any other company) gives you a device, in it are backdoors, tracking software, etc. that they can use to find everything from your location to how many times per day you touch your screen, which news articles you read, etc., etc. That doesn't even touch on their unrestricted access to the phone/computer's camera and microphone - or what they're doing with the footage and the recordings. All of this is common knowledge and perfectly legal. FYI: any passwords entered on the company device (including those for personal email and social media) are captured and stored on company servers.

If you don't want them using their phone to snoop on you, and you don't want to break company policy, there's a few things you can do to protect (some) of your privacy:

Go into settings and disable the assistant (Siri), and disable location tracking services. When you have your phone with you (managers), put in the glove compartment or leave it in a bag when you're not charging it. You can also put a piece of black tape on both the front/rear camera.

The best solution is to get a job with a different employer who isn't trying to control your life 24/7/365.

How exactly would they track you with your cell phone turned off? Do they send inspector gadget to follow you around?

They can still track you even if you turn the cell phone off.

It’s not a company requirement to belong to the union. They fought tooth and nail against it. It was shoved down their throat.

I can't see any future for UP the way that management conducts themselves.

They pay people to spy WOW! The powers to be at this company are paranoid. How about we focus on getting some business do we can all stay employed. I baffles me they hire us to work here we go through all the vetting process and we are still treated like trash. They hate union employees yet require I belong to a union to maintain employment. What gives at this place? Can’t win psycho people running this RR.
