Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Is this ever going to stop?

Seriously. It's a wave after wave of layoffs. People cannot deal with this any more, stress is exhausting, people are anxious.

I wouldn’t say I have been harassed. My chain of management simply are not that kind. I got instead silent, idle treatment. I used to have over 15 meetings each. It dropped to 1 each week. Since Labor Day. I started job search entering November. Now has 1 external offer and 1 coming. My current base pay at O according to Glassdoor.com is about 60% percentage points, below median. New offer is about 17 %. Got cut 12/4. I am sitting out December, the fourth month in a row getting paid full without working. Then start the new job in January getting double paid for three months thanks to O’s severances. I think I managed it very well but not enjoy it. A company paying somebody 7 months without work is, in a contractual world, not well managed. My manager is very well with me. The day of 12/4 was very short for me. My first lay-off was in 2008. Since then i have managed my finance. Today regardless what O did to me or not did to me, I am not impacted. My obs through this Q4 wavy period is O is acting like having a seizure riding up and with Warren poll and stock. O specifically and U generally have been panic that G, FB, AMa may invade and destroy. Their strategy is to mimic and hopefully emulate G and the gang. Well, if I ask you to move California weather to MN, speaking of mimicking, you are going to laugh my head from NYC to Tokyo. The real winning strategy hinges on the grassroots of U built over so many decades before G and the the gang were born, the roots embedded with the very crops of people being cut. The seizure has apparent lineage from GSK. Naive forecast says the short stop of this should be near turn scandal risk. If Obama is in WH, the risk nonessential because O built his care Act’s website. Now T is there with a likelihood beyond 11/2020. T is not going to be this restrained against G and the like ( see how quiet AMA in the last 12 months) in his second term and O is still feverishly lick the bone thrown off the G train. The real destruction will be when O head takes over U organizationally. The way many were laid off, I heard, smelled off earlier UBer company, the basic human dignity.

Really awful. We had a good year and abruptly lost our manager and director yesterday and we don't even know where we are being reassigned to... another Care Management team said they are getting our cases as of Monday. Was anyone on the 8 minute call today...it could have been an email. So canned. It's depressing. When hired they tell you about these great things and growth...I'm just thankful I haven't been laid off yet..I came here for the stability of a larger company, ironically.

Yes morale has plummeted. Layoffs, benefit cuts (kept as quiet as possible) and just wait until you see your raise and or bonus if your lucky enough to get one. You will hear company didn't do that well and cutbacks. Your mgrs are getting screwed as well. All i can say is do yourself a favor and just look for other employment. I am for sure.

I work in case management and morale has plummeted since the layoffs started in my department yesterday. I trust absolutely no one in leadership. They claim they had no idea this was coming, but they’ve been writing people up left and right to try to force them to quit for months, which has worked out well for them. Many case managers have quit since September since they started these harassment campaigns against front line case managers.

The eliminations started over 20 years ago when they started eliminating most of the admins who were managing a lot of logistics and odd jobs and helped the departments run smoothly.

It's been an accelerating "cheap-out", or "greed-out", since then.

The company does many good things, but it is still a supremely cold and avaricious Fortune 100 money making machine in every respect.

Money fist, people second.
