@5yos ... "handouts" are exactly what Verizon did when ~10,000 employees last year accepted the "hand out packages". Packages are exactly how a company can save money in the long run, if done properly.
As for wireline; I doubt wireline will ever be sold as it contains and maintains the fiber optic and transport equipment that wireless MUST use in order for their customer to make a call to their next door neighbor or to the next city. Don't forget about the SS7 network either.
Once the old RBOC and Independents can walk away from copper in 2024, that is what they will do. OSP techs will be reduced to a small number of fiber/construction/system techs. When the protected members are gone, much of that work will migrate to contractors.
Sweeten the pot? More like piss in the pot and all the union peeons will get a pot of piss for their EISP entitlement.
We're talkin about this package the most recent one. They wanted a 120 field techs on Long Island supposedly they only got 95. Nobody cares about management.
To the person who said they didn't get the numbers with the last VSP. Thats b—s—. 11K people accepted the offer and 10k were approved. there isn't going to be a better package dipshit
Heard they didn't get the number on Long Island. Guess they will have to sweeten the pot!
The only way to save $10 billion is by giving handouts? You're high...
How much is wireline worth in a sale? Anyone?
Certainly something will happen next year including another package. That is the only way I see Verizon achieving its goal after making the commitment to Wall Street to save $10 B by 2021
Yeah, heard the same thing from 3rd liner a year ago....wait for it, it'll be great -more money....then no EIPP came. Just this c-appy offer. Either way, I'm outta here now so I can enjoy some life before I croak! ADIOS VZ!!
Your manager is not that important or have that level of being in know in order to provide you with that type of information. Go play troll elsewhere.
Dont believe the rumors
Pure BS
you forgot to say “June 19th”
The 19th is a favorite go to on this board. This year we had August, September, October, And finally November. All guesses placed the day as the 19th
In 2017 we were told by our "director" in a meeting no RIF's. 2 days later the phone call came, "there will be a RIF, do you want to volunteer"? Managers don't know, directors don't know and June is 6-7 months away. Don't make any plans based on that info.
