Thanksgiving/Christmas PPTO

So on thanksgiving, I lost over 5 hours of my PPTO I had been saving up since may, what the hell? And I imagine on Christmas they're going to take another 5 hours?

Seriously, what the hell?

coworker said they GAVE you holiday pay....not that they just deduct it from your PPTO against your will. What if I need a sick day now? I'm just boned/get a point??????

I put the new request in for 0 hours for Thanksgiving just the way home office said too and they took the hours they had in my eta back out so I does work that way. I will be doing the same for Christmas and new years. Now home office did say you can remove them yourself the day after the holiday but I dont trust that. I'm saving mine for the payout in feb

You go in and remove your own hours. A manager is definitely not needed. This has been going on for years. That's YOUR pay and YOUR paycheck. You should learn to manage your own time. I can understand if you are a new associate and havent been through a closed building holiday before.

GTA Portal is for requesting hours. If you use it and request zero hours for the holidays even if a manager approves it. The "holiday hours" will still be on your ETA. Your new request will be treated like you were requesting a day off without pay. (Before you place the request take notice that no manager says anything about the fact there is no holiday hour request in your GTA Portal. So how does placing a second request with no hours remove the original request?)

The hours being used are still from the old system. GTA Portal was meant to be adaptive to the new system while the old system still exists in the background.

So you go to your gta on wire and go to new request and put in for dec 25 then select PTO holiday from the drop down box and then where it says amount of hours you put 00 then submit. But you have to make sure a manager approves it. Either that or home office said you should be able to cancel it the day after but I dont know if I trust that.

I dont have mine taken out so before Thanksgiving I went to my manager and they said they didnt know how to do it so I called home office and b–ched lol. Within a half an hour my manager called me to the office and said that home office just sent out an email telling them how to have us take it out. You have to go to your gta on the wire and put in a new request for that day and select PTO holiday then where it says hours you put 0 hours and then it wont automatically come out

Ever since PTO came into existance, yes they use it for holidays, this isn't new this year. When there was personnel, she would hang sign up, " if you want the pto removed, sign this list" . So now you would have to track down anyone with access to that screen to remove it. Yes its for all holidays closed but Easter. Easter was never a paid holiday.

They take whatever wages and hours they can from us hourlys. Like meal periods. They claimed the waivers for 6 hour shifts were no longer valid when in reality they are. My other job uses the waivers and I don't lose a half hour in pay. You can work up to 6 hours without having to lose that 1/2 hour of pay due to a "Sam's Club/wal-mart mandatory" meal period. They just continue to take, take, take... as long as we allow them to.

Its your time if you do not want to use it just tell them and they will take it off. Another thing on here blown out of proportion. And yes more will automatically be withdrawn for any Holiday if the club is closed.

If you do not want to use your PPTO for automatic holidays, you need to tell your manager and follow up in writing. They can stop this pay anytime from the day after the holiday to Saturday morning at approx. 8am before the weeks payroll finalizes. They go to GTA, timesheets, to make adjustments.

Years ago they actually did GIVE holiday pay, but NOT NOW. They TAKE it, unless you tell them not to. And then they deduct what hours you would normally work...and yes, all without your permission. Now that there is not a HR person, this doesn't get communicated correctly. Just another thing the corporation does to benefit them and not the worker.
