Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

How many have a membership desk that has not moved yet?

Can we get a list going with a city and state? Just being a little paranoid here, but wondering if it'll be the same situation like those that didn't receive cash machines a couple years ago.

My question is are members using the return station going to be expected to get plus and credit? 🤣

@5ckh they will have to in the future. Right now they're just getting everything set up to prepare for that. Makes you all warm and fuzzy inside knowing what a great company this is doesn't it?

So, what you're all saying, is that a member has to pay to shop there, AND they, themselves, have to do their own returns?

@5yjr that is the process now. They will be changing that later. They do it all the time.

Right now, on the website https://www.samsclub.com/content/returns

"How will I receive my refund?
For items returned to a Sam's Club location, you'll receive credit or cash in the original form of payment or a Sam's shopping card unless prohibited or restricted by law or regulations.

For items returned through the SamsClub.com process, you'll receive credit to the account that was charged at the time of purchase."

So Sam's website tells members they can get cash. They can't force paper gift cards on members.

Home office is literally going to start fights by not giving people back their cash! You can't take someone's money and not give it back. This is so bad.

Soon they will be telling us to walk the members through the process so they can learn to do it on their own. Sam's Club takes your money so you can do everything yourself! Bunch of schmucks paying the shop here.

I totally agree they eventually will have member doing there own return. Thing is that will be good for some stores with younger members, but at our store I don't if that will ever work. I wish they would quit treating each store as if they are the same. We have a lot of older members and one they will never figure it out because they won't try to. They will tell u quick I don't work here I pay to shop here and I am not checking myself our not anything else. But yeah I do see eventually there will not be a membership team but when it happens the memberships will go down fast.

@2lvt the iPads are turned out because eventually it will be only the members working the desk. This is the beginning of the end for the associates at the membership desk. More than likely you will be changed to being a merchandiser, and no severance offered.

Haven't moved and managers act like it isn't going to happen....or they haven't heard about it.

Our club made the change, It is horrible, members say It looks tacky and unprofessional, and I agree! There is no privacy, and members are up close and personal in your space! One register, one phone, and tablets are facing out!!

This is the absolute truth.. coming very soon there will be no register at the “desk”. No more cash refunds even if the member paid cash. E-gift cards only. District manager said this. He didn’t say when but he absolutely told us this. Also the desk will be a kiosk type ..he said many changes coming to the desk The new Australian CEO is all about technology.

I've heard, and I wondered if it is true. In the stores which have made the move, are the tablets turned towards the members and are the members doing their own returns, and memberships?

I was shown a self-serve setting located in the tablets' Settings section, under Returns, so I know it's possible, but are there clubs using the self-serve settings?

@2vkk ok management... It's making members angry and causing your associates to be even more stressed. But hey as long as you get your first fives. All management, CM's included, were hand picked because they are followers and not leaders. They are simply yes men, and don't do anything to improve the work environment for their customers or associates.
Go push your associates until they break! Yes sir!
But God forbid that a single one speaks up and says that these conditions are horrible for a lot of us, and members are getting more upset by the day.
Get out of here with your weak replies. You are nothing and never will be.

Tri State area, mid west. Photo gone, but we haven't moved. Working with one register and one phone is horrible. Long lines that can't be helped. Everyone hates it. Members and staff.
