More layoffs being planned for January. This December 4th was just the foreshock. UHC sending many to the Optum side in re-org to just eliminate on the “blue books,” but greater elimination for duplicative roles and leadership salaries coming in Q1. Record profits with record layoffs ... all with the stock price in mind. Sadly UHG has abandoned the culture and the employees who made it a Fortune 5 company. This (and how we treat providers) is why we are the most hated insurance company. For profit means they only care about the money. The PR and marketing execs’ jobs are to make it seem like we care about members. Smh.

Yup and look at the posts about optum execs and Amway solicitation? It’s looking corrupt from top down. I’m from a competitor so I’m watching you all from a distance. Sorry for layoffs those aren’t fun. It’s hard around the holidays. Hoping all find a place that value RNs!
This whole site is full of sh–. Whiny nurses complaining constantly. Even on WebEx with Director they are complaining about too much work right now. No wonder they are automating your jobs.

grumpy cat appears to bully to get people to leave. why leave work from home? it saves money. but also if they have people leave they don’t have to pay for you after you are gone to provide govt support. gaps in employment aren’t horrid like they were for boomers. but yes it takes no energy to dislike the place here it just means we disengage. no concern to us if you don’t like that...no concern to us if you don’t like us or our choice to stay and complain either lol - we are fine because we make due and keep taking a paycheck

Obviously leadership isn't going to tell anyone until they are summoned to "the call".... The best we can do is try and help each other and continue to post as much info as we have heard regarding specific departments/ positions so at least people can possibly get a heads up. Better to prepare for the worst and have your job be spared than to blindly trust you are safe. I think after the last round people are realizing UHC/ Optum is ruthless and I am grateful for any info I have gotten here and appreciate everyone sharing and helping each other.
We were told that no one knows of the layoffs, not even managers until it happened. So you're just spreading rumors. No wonder you were probably laid off.

Optum tech about 800 layoffs, I heard. Optum Analytics, many on provider side. Everyone in provider saw it coming for ages. Keeping people until Jan 3rd.
Optum seems to be higher paid for when they were over hiring a few years ago. I would expect most of the optums to be the ones seeing the door when dups are looked at.

What team of 700 were layed off on a conference call? Can you post the division?
Was anyone on this site one of the 700 on the conference call that was told they are eliminating your department? I know several people on my team have been placed to another department but several of us just waiting. This meeting was Wednesday and it’s now Tuesday with no update. I feel as if I am riding a wave right now

Culture? What culture? It is toxic and getting worse. You can feel that something is happening and the toxicity of the dog eat dog mentality that is coming out of this is just standard for UHG...
