Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

SE Region Year End Meeting!!!

What a wonderful pep talk. Made to feel like a complete piece of sh–. A lot of “adjusters need to be better and work harder” with no real direction to achieve our goals of being a profitable company. Doesn’t sound like a RIF conference. Just a heads up that AIG life is not going to improve, rather get worse.

Totally agree with Post ID: @12sLNowk-2auy It’s mentally exhausting after logging off each day because you know you can’t be your best given the restraints that we are given.

RESPONSE TO THE BELOW: Clearly you did not read the post or just failed to comprehend. The complaint is that we CAN NOT work more than 37.5 hours per week. If we do and get caught, we can be terminated for falsifying our time sheet. AIG would pay for the time and then either give a warning or just fire the employee. Given AIG’s current status, I would expect termination over a warning. We have to do 50 hours of work with in a 37.5 hour work week. So you can see there is a snowball effect, we fall more and more behind each week. God forbid you take a vacation.

So the point was... either let us work with out repercussions or allow us to work OT when needed. We’re asked to do more with less. It’s mentally exhausting after logging off each day because you know you can’t be your best. This all impacts “customer service” which is the main push right now to save our company. 2 + 2 does not equal 5.

*** Someone complaining about working 37.5 hours a week? Are you kidding? We work 50 plus hrs a week, so stop whining.

agree with Post ID: @12sLNowk : AIG life is not going to improve, rather get worse. In addition to Adjusters that are RIF'd, Adjusters are leaving in record amounts to go work at better companies with better pay and better benefits.

I don’t put this on managers, 90% of adjusters are well trained and have been handling WC claims for 6-20 years.

Set aside company moral and our stagnant biweekly pay checks... we are asked to do too much in 37.5 hours a week. We’ve been baby-stepped ever since we lost our local clerical support. Do more with less, including an unreliable computer/network system.

Managers do not manage, they review claims. If I was a manager, I would work with other managers to even out caseloads based on multiple jurisdictions, special accounts and obviously total claim count. There’s no reason for one adjuster to be fiddling their thumbs at 4:30 while other adjusters are pulling out their hair because a 2 hour conference call with a special account that wiped out a large portion of there day. And what about intelligence factor that gets ignored. Having the ability to handle 10 jurisdictions should come into play compared to an adjuster with only 1-2 states.

I believe there is a huge miscommunication between what is expected and what we can actually accomplish in a 7.5 hour day.

I would work more with no pay (rather get the OT) but it’s not worth the risk... getting in trouble for working unauthorized hours.

need better managers. Can't blame the adjusters when their managers are not supportive nor do they have skills to train and develop staff.

Agree. Basically the corporate strategy to save WC rest solely on the adjusters. Not incentive based, rather built on fear and scapegoating.

How long will AIG allow WC to continue without turning a profit?
