Why does getting an individual raise for good performance or promotion immediately make you exempt from any company-wide raise in the same calendar year? another BS rule in this company?

it is not a NOV rule for no more than 10 percent. I got 15 percent at 1 time in 2016 when i decided to leave to keep me. anything over 15 percent has to go to a VP and typically it is shot down.
@inthejnow I've heard that before also... 'We need to go all the way to Mr X to sign that off'...well why is that my problem? Oh because you're not willing to go to bat for me, thanks!
Greengate in the UK get regular raises but they still can't get more raises in one calendar year so the good people end up leaving and gettin get ping better money with competitors. Another 'NOV rule' is no one gets more than 10%, even if they are exceptional or you ant to keep them in the busines. You have to go cap in hand to a president and beg for it. Problem is, most of the VP,s haven't got the balls to do this and again, individuals end up leaving and maybe coming back later when NOV will then pay them market rate. Crazy situation and indicative of the poor management from president down, get rid of them?
Raise? Canada hasn’t had raises in 4 years. Just told be thankful for job. Way to retain bottom feeders.
NOV=Greedy.
I know that there are individuals in NOV on lower positions which got 20% or more in 2019
The only people getting raises ‘round here are V.P.s and higher. None of us “little folk” getting that sweet green sugar.
Everyone makes a good point but the best thing that could happen is the company going bankrupt!
What facility is giving raises??
Company-wide raises still exist? I guess you only get them if you work outside of coating (you know, where all the money is made).
The companies way to screw people out of money. Happened to a co worker. He transferred to another department for X amount more. When the company wide raises came around. He didn’t qualify cause “he got his raise early”.
