I worked here for years and I know that everyone has bills to pay but..EVERY team member that has left within the last year has no regrets and that includes one who works at Target. Go figure.

Sounds like my store all pbs’s just bs with store leadership while they throw team members under the bus.

Okay! 🤪 That can go both ways. Good and scary for some leadership.

I’m referring to good ones as the ones that regional leadership thinks highly of.

Then they aren’t “good ones”. They ARE creepy and condescending a-holes. I have met and worked with “good ones”. They are mentors that truly want to see people enjoy their job, move up and succeed. They have great stores and tms that want to follow them when they move up. They have integrity, great values, good business sense and don’t manipulate for self promotion. They truly want everyone in that particular store to succeed together. Maybe you haven’t met a or worked under anyone like that at WF but I have. Makes all the difference in the world. Everyone felt like we were on the same page and tms got the credit they deserved. No STL credit grabbing by a lazy STL.

The majority of the “good”ones are highly questionable in business practices and ethics. They usually fall into the category of condescending a–hole or super creepy.

Our ASTL and STL delegate all of their responsibilities out to others and hang out in their office laughing all day. Meanwhile those people are not getting their own jobs done well while covering leaderships asses. The culture compass does nothing to weed these leaders out.

The pay scale for STL changed so much. It’s not a great job like it use to be. Aggressively opening stores at the rates the company did watered down the talent pool. Before the acquisition there where not many great STL’s. Afterwards there all salty cause they took major pay cuts and had to work way more. Whole Foods needs a union.

So true @lxs, and this is the core of the problem:

amazon came in and bought out a business that was in trouble

Problem is with the actual stores. There aren't many strong, qualified STLs. They aren't competent as leaders or mentors. There are a few that can take a store and make it soar , but not enough. WFM STLs have so much influence with Regional and Corporate. They can set boundaries for their stores with the Company, more than tms realize. If your store is a chaotic mess, don't blame Amazon. It's a mess because there isn't strong leadership. Some store leaders are so hell bent on keeping their bonuses , doing whatever higher management wants, and being popular with the younger tms, which makes them look weak and silly. Who wants or needs an STL like that in charge of a store that controls your work life and paycheck. Amazon should have made STLs reapply for their jobs instead of giving them money and stock when they took over the company.

It had been a joke long before amazon took over. WF was so poorly run that amazon came in and bought out a business that was in trouble. The majority of bad decisions still come from the people WF put in power that should have been let go when the purchase happened.
