I read this article and really couldn't believe what I read. Fritz stated about performance improvements. Ok what improvements were actually made?? We're 15 days into the new year. There's been a few big derailments, injuries, and a lot more furloughs. I think the largest derailment so far was the one in western WI somewhere this last Sunday. That's an improvement? 35 cars went on the ground and piled up. 18 of them I read were hazmat cars. Some of the people involved with the cleanup of the derailment said it was a few hundred feet from a few businesses. Hey Lance, what was the cost of the cleanup of that derailment? Oh wait you dont have to tell us that figure. It was posted in the paper to be between 5 and 10 million dollars. What about that train in Illinois that caught fire and evacuated a few schools? All of these derailments have a few things in common though. They're bigger, more expensive to cleanup, and they're all on you. I haven't seen any improvements made at the UP except the ability to BS people.
