Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

oracle layoff austin tx jan 17, 2020

no media coverage on this one. i think at this point nobody cares about job cuts here, it's so frequent - it's almost a normal order of business

What awesome management.

Sorry, but the primary difference between Oracle and HP is that HP has management and Oracle doesn't. What do you think will come out of the HQ meetings by the upper management in Jan? Chaos, nothing but chaos. SC doesn't know what she's in for. Oracle will NEVER openly declare the number of people to reduce by ahead of time, because they don't have a clue how to figure that out.

Oracle's "management" is corrupt and incompetent. HP still has real managers. Those that still are held accountable for the success of projects under them and still have a clue how to work with other managers to get things done. All Oracle managers do is pose and BS their way through everything.

HP layoffs are printer oriented. The printer business has not been doing well. People don't use printers like they used to.

HP's management had over 10 years to prepare to switch away from inkjet printing, and they came up with zilch. Now the monster layoffs begin. They are so mismanaged that lowly Xerox is threatening a hostile takeover.

What awesome management.

The fact that HP can announce how many will be laid off and Oracle can't, indicates a great deal about the differences in management of the two companies.

Yeah, HP's management is awesome. That's why they have to let 9000 people go, out of 56K. The only reason HP is announcing it is because it's huge and it will be impossible to hide. I have friends who work at HPQ and they are worried sick.

Unless you're letting thousands go (like say the 9000 that HP is about to ax) the media doesn't care.

most of the customer success managers that were kept were class of’s that started last summer 2018 so the lowest cost

No idea how many let go. Lots of people in Cloud sales in 80 to 90% of the customer success managers I have heard.

A 5-minute conference call where everybody on the call was told if you are on this call you are riffed and you have until the end of January to find a new job
