Ohio’s Culture of Fear

Medicaid HCS is at breaking point, performance has taken a nosedive. They cannot close CAP with ODM. And mgmt continues to add more work, more busy work, more forms, and more threats. There is utter disbelief in mgmt that the CAP still isn’t closed....it’s because the staff genuinely cannot meet their expectations. Instead of listening to staff, they just threaten and are now handing out PIPs. Along with more work. Then they pull CM’s to other pet projects or teams, and people quit. Less people to do increased work. Punish and threaten and feign disbelief because work isn’t done. Honestly, if I wasn’t living it I would laugh at this incompetence. It’s like putting a hand on a stove, complaining that it is hot, and putting it back down again. This is serious though, because the culture of fear among bottom rung employees is really starting to get out of control. There are rumors going around that people are feeling that they will have to start working off the clock in secret or lose their jobs. ......that’s actually pretty serious. .there also seems to be some favoritism emerging in lower mgmt. The question is-doesn’t this backfire at some point? I mean, we know the goal of the PIPs is to fire without severance. But if you cut staff so low that you can’t get the RFP, then what are you actually accomplishing? What big picture goal am I missing here. Lay it out to me like I’m five, because I just don’t get it. Are any other plans noticing a drastic change in the work environment to a culture of fear?

Well, you have to be friends or family. That’s the way it is. If your not a close friend or family it doesn’t matter

The call center wasn't horrible–but I wondered how some managers got promoted to A&G with high school diplomas. I had a BS and was stuck in the call center for 27 months (8/14 to 11/16).

The brothers may be long gone....but nepotism still is running rampant. The new BOD and management allow it. Some things change but most stays the same

The BOD and management management have no basis anymore for blaming purported legacy issues.

The problems started long ago- at corporate. We have this huge group of friends and family, lots of nepotism has gotten us here. It all started with the hiring of the the motorcycle mechanic, then the amway guy, then the Gardner, then of course the girl from the gym came along and the brothers were ousted. It’s pretty much been this way for a long time and it’s not changing.

What is going on with Ohio? So much grumpling . Everyone is blaming everyone but not one successful suggestion in the bunch. Just more unhappy employees and failing business environment . No wonder everything is going to Evicore. We can't get along with each other to get the job done.
