Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Priority 1 Meeting this Friday

Is everyone having this or just certain markets? Will upcoming changes be addressed or just a kool aid drinking party to get everyone excited about the new year of making less money?

contractors do not get severance

Why would a contractor get a severance? I've worked for many companies and being a contractor means they don't get the same benefits as employees. I would call for a strike if a contractor got a severance package.

This is the first I’ve heard about a Priority One call, are they normally important or just the usual nothing? I’ve never heard the term before.

"Retail safe at least until March?" Uh...wrong. They already announced some store closures this year.

First it's 400 contractors layed off in one thread, then in another thread it was 700 and now it's 1,000? Talk about how stories grow the more times they are told. smh

Just a kickoff meeting to get the staff fired up. Stores are encouraged to have a party and expense breakfast for everyone. Layoffs are not going to happen at least until March for retail.

A 1,000 contractors were chopped last Friday with no severance and same day notice.

Leadership has 2020 budget in hand and its trash.

FTE's are next. Get ready.

If more then likely just the 2020 webcast kickoff. Nothing to stir up rumors about. Not everything is a conspiracy

Whatever it is, it's not nationwide unless management has not updated our schedules cause there's no meeting scheduled.

It is very possible it's not been updated. Sometimes we find out about surprise meetings a day or so in advance

It is the last pay week of the month. Verlieson always axes people on the last pay week of the month. Step one will be to give pink slips to axed employees Wednsday and Thursday. Step two will be to have meetings on Friday with survivors to discus new org structure and how this new org will "meet the changing needs of our customers" and "bring about effciencies that will maximise growth" along with other corporate biz blab. This is the way it is done. This is the way it has always been done. Get ready for changes ahead. Never ending changes.

They aren’t going to no commission. They only commission trail in the last 12 months was team commission and that was in Chicago. Quit spreading false rumors

No more commission heard it directly from management. Layoff SMs? Na why layoff when you can get them to quit. Same thing with reps... Just going to hit you with PiP until you quit.
