So...……. you say there is going to be a head count freeze. That' strange since our business unit has been interviewing and briskly making offers to qualified candidates. We cannot find enough qualified people with the skill set required. Many open req's to be filled.
That already happened. In fact, in our IT area, we are on track to reduce headcount AGAIN.
It's already happened in our department.
It appears that Ford and Ford credit are only trying to get rid of people who they are paying into pensions,and the elderly who are at retirement age to bring in younger employees who they can pay less money. They keep moving more and more clerical work to India and our people lose their jobs.

I hope nothing happens. I am still paying for the trip that I took to Hawaii this past Holiday.
I do not like all this talk of head count freezes and cuts. To many rumors.
Or maybe leadership should stop firing while also hiring at the same time. There were dozens of externally posted positions while people were being walked out because of SRD.
Maybe the leadership should just knock everyone back one salary grade to save money. During the SRD, many employees where red circled, and some were knocked backed one or two grades. They are still here, so it looks like they are very tolerant of the abuse. I guess it’s like “ Battered Wife Syndrome”.
Headcount freeze does not mean you can't fill a position...just means it can't be a brand new body. However, you can get an employee from another area to join your team. Just check Jobs Online, there are many open jobs being advertised for multiple teams/skill areas. I just checked, and for my level in IT there where over 20 jobs alone.....
Another joke from our leadership. SRD II, company isn’t smart enough to be able to right size the organization, eliminate non-value work, streamline the reporting structure, eliminate the slackers. In summary, building a world class manufacturing company. Company is no different then the Detroit Lions - bottom dwellers with no Championship Culture.

Yep. You can’t keep cutting without changing the way the remaining employees work. Otherwise you end up with an overworked skeleton crew that doesn’t have the time, resources or desire to do quality work.
Without a new vision and NEW products. Headcount and SRD will mean absolutely nothing. YOU CANNOT CUT YOUR WAY TO PROSPERITY. Business 101.
Heard about this last week. Unable to absorb the work from one of the SRD’d people and finally got approval for a replacement only to be told there was now a headcount freeze.
