No you don’t get paid for all that vacation for 2020. Haven’t earned it yet. Read the note on the MTO screen on how that works. That’s eligible time for 2020, not earned time yet. So if your last day is Feb 8, you get none of it.
30 years and 5 minutes - sorry about your experience. Are you a Sale's Associate? The reason I ask is the lay offs are mainly on length is service. Last come First go. I'm surprised they are letting you go after that many years. BT Sales people I believe are being let go if you sold less than $500,000 as a FT. ...and yes you do get paid for all your vacations and eligible sick days.
You must be in California if you have sick time. Yes it stops.at 26 weeks max, per week payment is they will figure up your average hours worked over the past year and that's what you will be paid for each week of severance. The store manager can't give you an amount for your severance when they have the conversation with you. I'm sorry. Is there not another position in the store they could offer? We are able to keep more than half on our term list in other open jobs. You must be in something very specialized like Big Ticket or Cosmetic?
You should have received a packet explaining all your questions along with a one page cument explaining insurance information. You will be emailed the severance package but you need to ask for the FAQ packet. It’s 25 pages and they have to print it for you at the store.
I just got got my job cut yesterday. i gave them over 30 years they gave me 5 cold minutes to tell me so long. I didn't even get any amount for my package. We have to sign before knowing the amount? They said 1 week for every year up to 26 years really why does it stop at 26? They said the average hours worked how will they figure that out ? What about our vacation and sick time for this year do they have to pay it out? Does anyone know if we get to keep our discount after so many years!
"Yes" to big ticket layoffs in furniture galleries, we're losing 2. It was supposed to be 3, but mid-stream they decided to keep it to 2.

Lots of combined selling zones across all departments (Multi-GOB). Mattresses + Home combined selling zone will be locked so colleagues from other departments won’t be able to pick up shifts there. However, the new zoned colleagues will be able to pick up shifts in other departments.
Today ft and pt sales in cosmetics fragrance shoes and total store. Round 2 comes tomorrow. Support is going to get f—ed.
Regular support will be able go into Women’s Shoes and pick up where the ‘Shoe Support’ left off. Same with Backstage. Regular support will do their functions too.

so in Women shoes full time sales people will be demoted to PT only? and PT will be flex? so everyone looses their benefits. is there anyway you can just be laid off? is this all stores or just a few ? What else is happening with Women Shoes..?
PT women's shoes support position was eliminated today 1/23. They eliminated the position and threw us into FLEX

I know that there are some layoffs for big ticket furniture associates in galleries.
Anything happening in women's shoes? I work in a Macy's store that more than 60% are tourist. We are also on a different pay structure, we make a little more per hour but certain department we make zero commission just volume on the dollar.
Mattress Only stores will be combined with Home Dept into 1 Zone. Last day worked for those not going forward will be 2/8.
DDHR’s are calling the Store Managers to take action on the reduction in force.
FT and PT are all on the cutting board. They will likely transfer them into FWT (flex) if they're lucky so they don't have to offer these colleagues 401k, PTO, and other benefits. A quick and easy way to save money. Macy's sure knows how to treat their employee right.
They cut receiving. So in stores it will be just a receiving manager and a part time lead and flex. I know in a few store they will have at least 1 part time person as well as receiving manager and part time lead. But will use flex for unloading trucks and process backstage in the stores that have it and hold and flow and all the other receiving functions. Honestly don't know how it will work.
A lot of FT positions will be cut. Some will convert to a PT. PT cuts to Flex. Company doesn’t want to pay benefits. Sales Managers will be reduced. Store will be run by Leads, Captains, and Sales Supervisors.

So far they've made cuts in women's shoes, mens, and soon to be receiving. I can just about guarantee that there will be more massive cuts in other support/non-sales areas, because as i've been told numerous times, "you guys don't make any money for the company". . . And the new fiscal year has yet to even begin. All acquaintance SHALL INDEED be forgot.

Macys thinks it grows by cutting, they call it "innovation" cause nobody else does it. Unfortunately it doesn't work.
