Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

I wish they let us know who's getting let go with more notice

I know it's not good for morale to have someone around who knows they're getting let go but it'll help the person's career a lot so they can job search while still employed.

I have a current offer on the table from big 4 accounting firm... I doubt I'm getting let go but it'd be nice to know so I know whether to take the offer or let it expire

Yes if they were more transparent and worked with those who are going to get let go, it would make for a less toxic environment. Even if they asked for employees to volunteer to get let go it would make an amazing difference. There would be so much more respect and loyaltity which Senior Management lacks.

If you have a offer, you would be foolish to let it pass you by. Waiting around at AIG is like waiting for your funeral. Take the job and make your life happy!

Take the offer and do not look back. Even if AIG counters....go.
AIG will cut you at anytime. A co-worker I knew years back was cut...he had a heart attack due to the surprise....go go go.

If you don't see your career growing at aig its time to go, don't wait for a rif. Promotions are few and far between, its not worth waiting around for the what ifs.

Staying at AIG is not a ling term solution. Very dysfunctional, leadership is clueless, and ypu you won't build your career at this company based on current leadership. Share price performance after earnings says everything about the market's confidence in AIG to deliver. If you're under say 45 and have flexibility, you should go for greener pastures.
