Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Chevron now a "Has Been"?

Stock price been c-appy past year, no or very little growth. Is Chevron on the way to becoming another XPOM, both bloated behmoth oil companies. Is it time to get out of Chevron?

This is a BUYING opportunity for those with dry powder. Definitely not the time to sell. Trade on, my friends.

Plenty of stocks are down now. This is not news. Sell them all if you want. You're free to do that. What's stopping you, tough guy?

Yep, CVX stock down below $100 a share on Wednesday Feb 26. Who of you have been hanging on to your shares since the start of this year? Dividends will not save the day. This stock is still has lower to go.

CVX stock got hammered on Monday, Feb 24 and so did crude oil prices. I’m thinking the markets and CVX will continue to slide tomorrow because the aftermarket futures remain flat.

Oil prices n oil stock prices have gone up and down for many many decades along w frequent layoff cycles (except in last 15 yrs) and chevron n a few others have survived and actually grown while always paying its dividend. Being diversified is always key to survive these cycles. U never know, Maybe Permian’s steep declines, an unknown new flare prevention law, new excessive permitting requirements, earthquake tremors, cannot generate enough cashflow, n disruptions in middle east, the world wide demand grows, etc. causing usa inventories hold steady or decline and oil stock price trend up meanwhile a good dividend is collected. Being diversified allows participation in the ups n downs across an investment portfolio. But putting 100% into anyone one investment is unwise, ask Enron n BP retirees when Macondo occurred. Stay diversified.

If you still have any holdings in CVX in your 401k, you’ve missed the opportunity. Don’t wait for a comeback any time soon. You may rationalize on relying on the quarterly dividend to help you from sinking fast, but it’s a good bet the stock price will flounder further down, this eating up the dividend gain. Cut your losses now and wasting time waiting for the tide to turn. Take your CVX off the board and diversify into other low expense ratio choices in the 401k. You’ll thank me later. This oil and gas downturn and plateau will last another 2 to 3 years.

Chevron beat the S&P 500 last week Woo hoo. It has under performed for many years and yet I still know people who have all their money in CVX. This should be a business employment test. If you have all your money in CVX (or any stock for that matter) you can't work here.
