Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Saw another buggy retriever in kroger parking lot yesterday didn’t have his yellow vest on. He was working. Wonder why 4 kroger trucks with 7 kroger managers didn’t encircle him to let him know he was committing a felony rules violation? Know why? Because he was doing his job and the managers were inside doing theirs. Weird.

Kroger runs too efficiently. I could never work for them. I did notice the guy retrieving buggies in the parking lot had so many linked together he couldn't move them. i wanted to recommend he seperate them but i'm so used to PSR i just ate my hotdog and laughed ;)

We can quit working and hate the managers while getting paid by UP. Why go to Kroger?

If you hate your job and your manager why don’t you just quit? Bunch of young guys want you out the way. Just go work at Kroger’s they pay 10-13 an hour. Maybe 14 in the deli.

Agreed. There is still value in an education, but where did you go to school, what did you major in, and did you actually put forth any effort? With all the third tier toilets out there posing as schools, just having a college degree doesn’t mean what it used to. There are for profit schools that accredit themselves and college majors where you show up and talk about your feelings. Also, anyone that went to college knows people that had others drag them along in group projects. Higher education is a business and they don’t make a profit by flunking all their students.

Knowledge-based economy, but still, there is a big shortage of skilled labor. Many opportunities in the trades these days, if you can weather lower pay in early days. Too many kids going to college for run of the mill degrees when many should be electricians, masons, heavy equipment operators, etc. we need shop classes and vocation education like we used to have, instead of telling every kid to take out loans to study art history or political science...

That’s a pretty good school. For me to p–p on.

Just file bankruptcy, give the new vehicles back, grab a 95 Honda Civic. Gentlemen you will be the happiest in your life than you’ll ever be. You don’t have to pressure yourself to keep up with the Jones. This is a true statement because it’s me.

I have two degrees and don’t do manual labor and I still know you can find a decent office job without a college degree better than UP. If you got the skills it doesn’t matter about college. Most computer programmers I know have no college degree.

You do if you want to make more or similar money. Manual labor is the least valued work in a knowledge-based economy.
