Thread regarding SeaWorld Entertainment Inc. layoffs

Feb 25th - Corporate

Special shout out to Corp for providing their people the beads and donuts, while utterly ignoring the orlando park today even though it's in your backyard. We supply all your food via crews, maintenance work through PE, security guards and more. I mean sure it's not feasible to get stuff for the parks you arent around but it's fun to watch all the corp people walk around apparently celebrating while us peons do the work.

Glad to know we can't order supplies for our jobs, but the corp team gets beads and donuts! I'm sure they needed the sugar rush to brainstorm more ways to cut corners, push long-term employees out of the company while giving themselves and salaried leaders better perks, make excuses for the lack of upkeep and maintenance of animal habitats, and how many more people they'll need to eliminate for the SEC fine. Who are we kidding, here? SEA does NOT care about you!

@FrustratedWhale, glad to hear that. I understand and went thru the same thing. It took a long time but I finally found a great job and now know what it’s like to work for a company that cares about their employees. Most companies around here do. Shame that Seaworld used to.

RE: Why i'm still there - I will be out soon myself. It just is irresponsible for my family if I simply quit my job without another lined up yet. When I am out, I will def feel for those who are left that are the good employees. Or ambassadors. I'm not sure what we are still.

Of course they do Frustrated Whale. It's been mentioned here before. All of these publicly traded large companies have a board of directors which I believe helps tie it all together.
Does it make more sense that this site was created by Corporate America (where they can monitor and control it) or that they just allow someone to create a site that someone else can benefit from and risk some really bad inside information to spill? SW would be suing the pants off of the owners of this site along with all the other companies.
Why do think so many of these comments have just disappeared. To me, this site is Corporate Americas little windows to their ambassadors.
Just watch the negative numbers rise! 😉

So tired of seeing the jeans, t shirt and flip flop wearing corporate people benefit from the hard working people in the parks. It’s insulting! We as ambassadors rather you are in horticulture beautifying their walk to Crews or Culinary ramping up the menu Monday-Friday while feeding the rest of leftovers on the weekend are being used to help inflate their already overpaid egos!

Amusing...

I wonder if someone from "leader"ship was reading this site because hey, next week we are getting an "employee appreciation" week. In order of days next week... free fountain drinks, tickets to the solar bears, crazy sock day, free ice cream, and "employee appreciation day" treat.

I mean granted some of it sounds nice but sure doesnt cover your "ambassadors" who work weekends, which I thought we were "ambassadors" but maybe not anymore...

Here would be my idea of employee appreciation!

Restore sick time up front (I'd even take that alone over working to earn vacation)
A real system for merit increases that is visible and based on your skill not on whether or not your boss likes you
Bring real communication back to the employees
Stop cutting department staff and hire people so we arent all dying from the work we put in
Hold corporate leadership accountable for the dumb decisions they make that cost us money and when they screw up, they lose their bonuses and time off.

You can tell when the chair sitters visit the site as all the comments are downvoted.

The corporate is showing..

I think it's more about the whole "be one" they like to talk highly about when its convienent, and then ignore it the rest of the time.

Cause boy, it sure felt like we were one team!

There was a potluck where employees brought in food on their own dime. Complaining over cheap beads and stale donuts? For real?

Typical move by them. Plus they were probably celebrating the pre-earnings news. taking all the credit as usual.

There must have been huge savings off of the parks with the lack of equipment orders being approved and the outsourcing initiatives...well done!

So that's why all the supersized corp chair setters were at Seafire this morning
