Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Will there be coronavirus cuts? Who does Cisco cut first?

I've been an agency contractor for a little while, I wanted to know my chances of getting laid off. I don't work on anything hardware related, so I'm hoping that helps.

Which BUs do they cut first? Do they cut red badges or blue badges first? I know there's age discrimination too (I'm youngish so not sure if that will hurt since I also don't have much experience).

Thanks. Just hoping to know a bit how it's done, and where I am in the "line".

There is no rhyme or reason to how they do LRs. Just plan for them. On my team no red badges were cut, but a two blue badge were. We’re actually hiring an other red badge next week. Meanwhile, they let go of the program team lead with key skills. He also was a key influencer. He delayed the release of an internal too due to performance latency so it could be fixed. 6 mos later he’s cut. Clearly doing what’s right isn’t tolerated at Cisco anymore.

What about business unit though? I support the subscription revenue which is supposedly not doing bad.

red badge are walking dead, you sit in cube cause they want you to be there every day cause they pay 100$ an hour for you, then tell your company to let you go on friday, never take a red badge job

Red badges are always the first to go. They sort of like the red shirts in Star Trek.

I was a red badge and was cut on 1/24! I have a long and strong history with Cisco.
