Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Almost all prime signage removed

Our STL took down all of our prime signs yesterday throughout the entire store. I thought Prime was the big thing we are trying to push. WTF is going on?

"Just ask your leadership why the signs came down. "

STLs are specifically told not to share certain information. For example hey knew all about project jalepeno long before the program started.

No, Signing did not "change formats". 90% of prime signs were removed that were required to be up for years because marketing said it was the most important message that needed to be conveyed. Nothing was put in it's place. It's just gone.

Signage is just changing formats, that's all. You folks will make something out of absolutely nothing every day of the week. Questions? Just ask your leadership why the signs came down. They'll answer and then you can carry on with your day.

the only thing that concerns me about my STL is actually how much he knows and isn't telling us, until literally the moment things need to happen. this "project jalapeno" isn't even a big deal, and they're trying to play it so close to the chest, deflecting questions with 'nothing is official yet' BS, when the supervisors who will be doing the returns aren't told and trained until 2 hours before the launch went live.

Ha, that one guy is definitely in store leadership. As for signage, not all prime signage is being removed. It's mostly the more introductory ones like "prime members save an additional 10%!". At this point they aren't as focused on explaining the program. It will only be on shelf tags where the price would be

Oh yes, all signage is moving to vertical 1-ups and 6 ups only. Our store had already done this. We still change all the signs on market switch regardless.

It's apparent by the comments that some stores have not followed through with this yet because the deadline is still a few days out to complete it. There is no switch/swap going on. It's literally all down except the cardstock 1ups & 6ups. No aisle blades, hanging dots, no endcap headers, no napkin holders, no blue produce bin signs, etc. It's very, very, weird.

Its called a refresh look. Started w heavy promo. Now they realized too many signs, they concentrating at registers now. Program does not change. Still savings for prime members there. Nothing to worry bout. Too bad store leadership did not communicate. What concerns me the most is your stl now. Why is it that you dont have that confidence in asking your stl directly? Why come here for a simple thing? Is your stl not approachable? That is not cool. Stls are nothing more than just TMs with a tittle.

It's called market switch. Every two weeks the sales change and prime deals change. All signs are pulled on the Tuesday evening sales end. New Prime & sale signs go up Wednesday morning.

Changeout. Old signage came down. New ones went up overnight.

Consumer study (funded by competition?) came back that said the plethora of signage gave the appearance that unlike traditional groceries stores we were only focused on prime members and that we would be more akin to a membership store like Costco and Sam’s club.

Prime isn’t going away.
Starting next week cashiers will begin to tell every non-Prime customer what their savings would be if they were Prime members.
Thus encouraging more to join at the register.
That’s right, get ready for more calls to the front for register / bagging assistance as Jack and Jill Boomer try to navigate their phones to join Prime.
