Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Ageism and nepotism runs rampant at the firm

The least qualified people are hired to save money. I do not think they understand that any firm can acquire tech and that the most valuable assets are the tenured employees. It is funny and sad at the same time that they do not realize that hiring new people more often rather than just paying tenured people who are more efficient and productive actually saves more money in the long run and creates better customer service. I guess they do not have the cognitive ability to think in two dimensions. Yes, we need a balance of new and old but they skew in favor of the new at the determent of the overall quality of the firm. Like I said sad.

Very true. Your age will catch up to you here.
Why does management constantly have to tell you how much they love you while simultaneously making you miserable?
If Chuck were alive, what would he say?

The 50 and over are most vulnerable. They are usually weaker, slower, and dog gone it, just demented.

Anyone with 20 years or more
Is a target for lay-off.

Many of the layoffs affected those 50 and over, and a long tenure. Older workers are more expensive on health care and also have tons of sick time
and vacation time. Some 23 year old just wants a couple long weekends and will show up when sick
