With stock now at 15+ year lows, when will leadership be broadly held accountable? Probably never thanks to the deeply toxic culture.

Agreed. I’ve been with the company 30 years. The hExxon style has slowly run its course. There was a time when tight accountability was needed. You cannot spend 1/2 your day working internally focused items that do not generate value. There are more checkers of checkers and SSHE advisors, and internal controls advisors and quality advisors...... and on and on and on... you will die a slow death with corporate allocations that are not controlled but dumped into the revenue generating business lines. Whack it all and see what happens. We are risk managers.
No doubt management at XOM is the root of all the problems there. They are too busy cuddling with the feelings of millennials and throwing Pride Days to get any real work done. It has become a political clusterfuq that a 3-5 year employee can demonize 20+ year veterans and then they mobilize in herds to destroy them. If you are on the wrong end of them your career will be destroyed. Well... if you are one of the millennials or hipster boomers you have destroyed a once-great company... congratulations on your unemployment endeavors. You have been marked and good luck finding a job in Houston after this

WOW. I just retired from CVX and reading all the messages across energy companies boards ... i can say this, ALL companies seem to have a toxic environment. Lol. But my response is: you make your job the way you want it. If you are positive about your job then your job will be the best you ever have. If you hate your job then move somewhere else, or get busy to change the culture, one person at a time, or, change your attitude, one day at a time.
After working for XOM for many years and Mobil for many years before, I believe this financial down turn for the company was a long time coming. Once XOM merged with Mobil there was a definite arrogance that came with the Exxon management. They were able to get by just by the sheer size of their bank account. The Exxon way of doing business will undoubtedly change finally. As someone once said , XOM cared more about the internal XOM rules and systems than the real rules and regulations.
