Why don't employees ask hard questions

If layoffs mean that much to employees at Cisco why don't ya'll ask your leadership team during the beat wtf they do them?

Funny, I have been getting these Cisco Beat emails since they started having them and I have yet to go to a Beat and I probably never will. Even CX-wide meetings, total waste of time, WHO CARES. NOTHING HAS CHANGED SINCE Maria took over for CX, NOTHING, I continue to do the SAME JOB I did when it all started, they talk about customer obsession and all that c-ap, we already were doing all that, NOTHING HAS CHANGED did you hear what I just said, I said NOTHING HAS CHANGED, we still do the same great job we have always done. Then they want you to get all these certifications but have no problem laying off all those same people, what a friggin WASTE of growing your talent, I guess the ones that win are those that get laid off with all their certifications that they achieved while working at Cisco, and Cisco loses. Lots of Laughs.

Because Cisco has long been a personality cult. It was that way ever since JC was at the helm. Everybody remember when he'd survey the audience at an all-hands asking about some obviously dumb idea nobody should agree with? "anybody disagree with me? a few hands? that's okay! just a few - in any decision we have a few healthy disagreements"

This is true everywhere sales execs run the show and not engineers. Prove me wrong.

I'm sorry but literally cannot STOMACH watching the beat(off) anymore. So much smiling, waving, and hugs until everyone is warm and fuzzy. No challenging thoughts are allowed there.

Just keep smiling and waving everyone...we are ALL HAPPY AS CLAMS. If you don't keep everyone quiet, how do you expect to keep running your big bonuses? Duh.

Why make yourself a target?

You’re dealing with ego maniacs at the very senior level (CEO, EVP), and under/un-qualified “leaders” at the SVP and VP levels. The unqualified leadership would never question the arrogant executives that placed them in their jobs. That same unqualified leadership is so incompetent that mid level managers and front line workers have given up on asking questions, tough or otherwise.

Lol because no one wants to get LRed. a no-brainer! it's just like saying why would they focus on "muh diversity" instead of actual talent.

@1wjz+13KvBcO7 - i LOVE your reply. Don't get brainwashed into thinking AWS is any better. Look at the recruiting material. "Just be yourself!!! but do it like THIS all while reciting these holy leadership principles"

Ask what? It’s a niche hardware company that is trying to earn software based revenues in a competitive environment.
They have canned answers - it’s going to be a long and hard transition. They’re basically saying take off on your own terms or watch us slowly tear out pieces.

Life in Cisco is more like dodging the bullet - LR is not a matter of “if” but more like “when” .

I have survived in Cisco for over a decade and the culture (toxin) is not the same as it used to be. It’s scary that if there are - 3 or more random Cisco people on the table or out for drinks - the topic after 5 min would be restructuring without fail.

Cisco has a toxic culture, you are not allowed to “have bbone abd aak questions”. This is one of the leadership principles of Amazon.

2018 CX all hands, a week after the big axe, bunch of impacted people posted question on WebEx asking for why he/she. Sr Mgr/Director quickly replied on behalf of MM or someone by pasting a same sentence again and again.

I was in building 9 SJC to attend some internal career fair bullc-ap and it was delayed because a Cisco Beat was running over. I had accidentally walked into where they were having the Cisco Beat thing and they all looked at me like I was a Klansman at Churches Fried Chicken. The executes or whoever these people are at Cisco Beat definitely didn't want me there.

I asked my leadership team, and was laid off shortly after.

Have you ever actually SEEN a Cisco Beat or one of these ridiculous corporate infomercials?

It's reality tv.

Completely scripted. No deviation from the script is allowed.

Was told by manager to not even talk about the LR, the people impacted, future LRs, or anything even slightly about LRs. No transparency at all.

I don't have the balls to do so but I agree with the OP on this. People at Amazon and Google didn't like what their company's were doing and called them out
