Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Why would anyone want to work for a company that treats its employees so badly?

Even for those folks who have a descent gig - how are you mentally capable of remaining at a Company which mistreats its employees?

If you are starting out, especially as an engineer, take a job somewhere else if you can. If you are already there, make a plan for exiting under terms that are best for you. Use as many benefits such as tuition, certifications, internal training - whatever improves your resume. Your one and only real job while working at Xerox should be to extract as much as you can from the company. Do not take pride in the place. Do not attach any emotion or loyalty to the place. Most of all don’t trust anyone there. Not your boss. Not even your best buddy co-worker. They are all part of the corporate culture and you should be fighting a defensive war with it all. Do your job and be a good employee. Earn your salary. Be nice. But do Xerox no favors. Remember: Xerox will FUOver whenever it thinks it is to its short term benefit to do so. You are no more “valuable” to that awful toxic, affirmatively actioned, politically correct, toxic corporate entity than is a waste basket.

Truth is KM does better solids, Ricoh doesn't have trail edge starvation issues like the versant and the iridesse. Fuji got complacent after the color press and now the competition are ahead... for less. I'm moving to the software industry. Slapping two bricks together doesn't make a life raft. I'm done with this dying industry where only the not talented enough stay. I've lost all by best colleagues. Why shouldn't I leave too and make more and have better everything? Screw them!

Is disgusting how the favoritism. Can’t wait to get out of this hell hole. No one knows anything they lie in your face. I feel like vomiting all the real truth is all the things that really went and still going on. One thing the higher you are the higher you fall. No one is safe those who thought so.

For me at a larger XBS core it wasn't that bad. Xerox decided to outsource and was awful at the messaging but we were essentially given a 9 month notice (I left after 1), were still provided full time hours, and kept our benefits.

I know some smaller cores lost their HR admin pretty quick so probably wasn't the same experience for them but most of us knew what was happening.

Yeah. It’s probably why no one is getting raises. They need the money for legal fees going after people trying to save themselves.

Let's face it, that's corporate culture in most companies in America. Yes, there are companies that truly do take care of their people and care about them, but that's a minority especially for large companies.

The worst for me is watching people who were supposedly “friends” for decades, so easily throwing each other under the bus attempting to catch the eye of an EC member. Second is listening to those in denial, still expecting their particular genius to be recognized and trigger the long awaited promotion to E1. Some of the work is still interesting and a lot of the older folks cannot get another job. Ageism is the most ignored ism.

If you think they treat you badly now, quit and go to the competition.

Hell hath no fury like a Xerox core scorned.

I stay for the free coffee and because no one is actually managing anything so I can choose when to work and when not to. If you just wait for your boss to send you something and you finish it right away, you hit top performer status

Many companies mistreat their employees. Plus, I’m lazy and I like money.

Until I find something else, it is more brutal with each passing day, each time we lose people from the team, each time were reorganized into another sham of an org structure to satisfy the goons that the former board let in, each these c suite aholes lie to us.
