Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

The layoffs are ONLY about hitting a number!

The layoffs are ONLY about hitting a number and nothing more - not this realignment of resources BS. I was hit in late 2014 as part of an 8% company wide LR, I was a top ranked Sr Manager. Prior to that I laid off staff every year to hit the number of the day.

In some cases I laid off recently hired 4.0 GPA new hires. I am a different person since leaving that dog eat dog and highly demographically skewed company. Internally it was often like the game of survivor / hunger games. There were always people in SJ headquarters trying to take me and my team out or put us in a bad light so they could take over our work.

Many Directors and VP's lied to my face, often. I still talk to some former coworkers who are still there and say it is even worse than when i was there. I do not envy them one bit. My kids live in the bay area and my daughter once talked about applying for a job at Cisco. I strongly recommended against it.

Cisco has developed the most toxic culture on the planet. I am no longer there, but if the board doesn't run Chuck's utterly incompetent, uninspiring and self-defeating style of "leadership" out of the door asap, Cisco will go the way of Nortel or Sun Micro.

Anyone that's seen him present at Cisco Live knows the guy has never had an original thought in his entire life.

Yes the years from 2012 to 2017 were misery.

Highly successful Grade 12 here, was there for 11 years, patents to my name, huge customer loyalty... I saved myself in 2014 just for more misery until I blissfully left in 2017.

The world outside isn't totally safe, especially if you do startups. But it's far more rewarding. And exciting. Was laid off once (numbers were transparently bad saw it coming), cashed in once... and because I am far more visible than I was in Cisco for the last 3 years, I constantly get hit by recruiters.
