I was laid off with 70 people in early March 2020 and I heard from former coworkers that the layoffs are 100% based on performance and that is how the decision is made. The strong performers on my team were NOT laid off and have NOT been laid off to this very day. That speaks volumes in my opinion.

Sorry to hear that you were laid off. Hope you bounce back and find a much better place than UHC.

I'm sorry to hear the you were laid off. I worked there for many years until recently & wasn't aware there had been lay-offs nearly every month for awhile (per this board). They sure do keep it hush hush internally.

I’ve been with the company for 9 years and was let go today due to budget cuts. I came from a sh– show of a dept. and the wrong people were let go. The ones that caused the problems are still there.

I also received an invite at 11:00 AM EST on Thursday, 2/6. I was told that the company was laying off many talented people. I asked my director why United was laying off since they are doing very well. He informed me that they were forecasting not to have a good 2021. I also asked him if more layoffs were coming and if it was going to impact our team and he said, yes. He did not say when, but I know it did not occur on 2/6. He told me that the company was laying off about 9% I assume if there are no more lay offs going forward that I was misinformed or it could be due to the Covid-19. I am not sure.

My personal theory is that they are going to halt the layoffs until things settle with the Covid-19 issue. It is conceivable that 30% of their workforce could be impacted by this if it really starts spreading, and if they cut another 10% of their staff as a result that would put them at a horrible position operationally. That is purely based on logic and nothing else, I have no insider knowledge.

Companies would be foolish to wipe out their staff at such an uncertain time.

Not even sure why I'm asking when I'm 99 percent sure the answer is yes.
