Goeckeler and the team he brought to Western Digital are getting bad reviews inside and outside. Time for him to retire. Reason he was pushed out.
He made $12.5 million a year at Cisco. I'm sure he received a 20% pay bump by going to Western Digital.
Where else was her going to go? Has to get his first CEO gig in. Probably getting a great deal if he can “save” WD. Within 5 years he’ll be in a $10m per year gig.

"Oh no its the Coronavirus!!!!" excuse is being used by a lot of companies this quarter. While yes, it can and is likely some part of reduced performance, it surely isn't to the point that it's being made out to be. Its simple a convenient excuse at the moment.

Goeckler is another good guy. Amy Chang, also really good. John Stewart, also good. All leaving within a short time span or for all intents and purposes, at the same time? Even good people like them can only do so much to clean up what is becoming a bigger mess than anyone realizes. Just look at the disaster CX is. Any many really good people being LRed whom you would think Cisco needs. This is another telling sign. Folks, there is life outside Cisco. The company had its day in the sun. Other companies are paying bonuses above 100% and Cisco is going backwards with 25% of the overall bonus with the advance. Of course the Corona virus is also having impact, but thats across the board. Whats happening with Cisco is a trend that started a long time ago, even before Chuck assumed the CEO role. I for one am sad to see what has happened to this once great company.
Padma Warrior is coming back to replace him. We miss Padma and her fashionable clothing so much.
Goeckler's departure is a loss for Cisco. He is a good guy. I worked with him at Cisco long ago when he was a first level engineering manager.
What if Chuck catches that coronavirus
We will be expected clap and be super-excited about his coughing and sneezing on the Beat.
Chuck is blaming the coronavirus for the financial mess at Cisco. What if Chuck catches that coronavirus, does that mean Cisco will go bust?
Getting very nervous. Lots of staff and execs laid off or have left. Imploding. Hate job searching but seems like it's time.
