@1fkg actually I was hoping from someone from outside the company with actual relevant leadership skills to turn IBM into a leader and not a follower could be found. I just can't see that anyone who has been brought up in the IBM culture is ever going to be ahead of the market in any capacity.

1cnp. That seems to be approx correct. Krishna’s job as assigned by the board is to “rightsize” IBM. The board assigned Whitehurst the job to innovate IBM. There is a reason Whitehurst accepted the presidents role. There was a golden goose at the end of the trail

Ginni hand-picked the BOD to prop her up through IBM's now decade-of-darkness.

Krishna seems like a one-year ceo with an agenda to dismantle the crony network that overwhelms IBM. His bio suggests an intellectual beginning that evolved into a narcissist with a weakness for flattery, who bullied his way to the top.

Yet remains short on results despite being Ginni's point man for vision, that too despite years at the helm.

@1ffg If you're hoping "the other New leader that can't be named here" is your savior, keep dreaming. Denys the "true culture" of the company he's over (red) and hands out the koolaid by the gallon. Go against him and you'll get a "breaks code of conduct" charge leveled at you. Ask the former CFO that was quietly axed (but paid off under the table).

I'm glad Ginni won't be the CEO for much longer, but Arvind isn't the CEO I was hoping to replace her. He's too much of an insider and has done virtually nothing to actually execute well any of the cloud strategy.

Easy decision. As a 30 plus year IBMer, anybody is better than Ginni. Amazing the BOD allowed her to ruin the company.

The two comments so far are so spot on. New boss is same as old boss. And the Titanic has already hit the iceberg, so swapping CEOs is a bit late.

I'm sure someone will post here they think Krishna will change the world, but those of us that have worked in his orgs know that is not the case. He IS the problem to a great degree in GTS, or at least the force behind it.

Anyone holding their breath for him to get this ship unstuck from the mud, will run out of air before things change for the better.

TRUE

Kind of like swapping the captain of the Titanic after it hit the iceberg. Doesn't really matter too much

TRUE

Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss...

Nothing changes.

We need radical reforms.

Kind of like swapping the captain of the Titanic after it hit the iceberg. Doesn't really matter too much. IBM has treated enough former employees poorly and the IT world is relatively small. Add the inability to sustain execution toward improvement along with the former employees spread out into their customer base and I don't see how they can come back. I know that once I'm gone I will just laugh if an IBM salesman shows up at my next gig.
