Overpaid “meat cutter”

Anybody else have a opening meat cutter who isn’t physically capable of doing their job? Someone who would barely pass as a wrapper and can leave or call off whenever they want (every weekend) because of LOA? Management refuses to move this individual to another department to better suit their needs.

The meat department is an circle where the opener should have the mindset of giving the closer a good foundation and the closer should be giving a setup that is borderline open ready for the next day. I don't know where you work but where I'm at the openers are required to put the truck away, complete cuts of all items on fst, do the meat order, set layouts, and do rewraps and reductions . I find it hard to believe that you as the closer have it that hard at all if the opener isn't at least doing the minimum work required. I don't know if you were there before block scheduling but you should work an opening sometime. The closer's job is basically now just come in, cut to what sells and then clean. Not saying it's fun or easy, but you hold almost no responsibility or accountability for the day. Furthermore if they really aren't doing anything I have to wonder what your meat lead is doing, as well as the rest of your management.

If they are unwilling or incapable of doing their job, the issue isn't their rate of pay, it is a matter of accountability from the team lead and management.

Stop obsessing over how much someone else gets paid.

Welcome to Sam’s club, they gave these people raises and Pto and the first thing they do is c-ap on the company and then continuely complain about Sam’s club, again leaving the people who come to work the extra work. Thank you to whomever made the decision to give all meat associates a raise without any sort of reason, and no accountability. A great way to bring down morale 👍👍

I am pretty sure EVERY club has an opener or closer that calls out on any day they want leaving the WORKERS to pick up their slack.
