Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

Majority of Healthcare Workers Still Unprotected from COVID-19

This is exactly how a pandemic grows exponentially, and I still see most people, even in the medical community Ho-Humming at COVID as if it's nothing more than the common flu.
Yes, the media is hyping it, but also misinforming at the same time.
You want more jobs?
Oh, you'll get them facing COVID-19 patients by the thousand soon.
Washington state has dozens of medical staff infected and some critically ill.
Internal govt docs have done the math and fully expect over a million cases in the US by May 1st, doubling every 6 days.
Meanwhile, medical workers are bantering about hours, benefits, and pay.
This will be one for the record books.

We all work at a corporation people this is a supply chain issues any way you look at it, do you know what a supply chain is? Look it up..... upstream and downstream supply chains are being shut off, even in the hospitals..... not enough beds is a supply chain issue, not enough respirators is same, closed bars?.... Nobody spending money, Disney is closed for gosh sakes. The stock market is crashing due to company closures, that equals revenue. Unemployment is going up, because workers can't work..... expect at UHG evidently! Even our own company will lose money over this..... imagine the number of members that will be hospitalized in ICU, not the cheapest place to sleep this thing off - he said sarcastically

The CoV 19 is not an influenza virus. There is no vaccine for this one yet like the Avian flu of 2009. This virus spreads rapidly and was the result of China. Why do we have to have all of our medical supplies made in China? Cheaper labor? We don't have enough tests to diagnose the CoV 19 because the reagents required by the scientists to do the tests are made overseas as well. Outsourcing jobs is the wrong thing to do. In 2019, the housecalls program surpassed 1 and half million housecalls. I doubt very seriously that this will occur again due to the rapid layoffs of health care providers and the novel CoV 19.

It’s not that you’re going to die getting this flu. The issue is everyone getting it at the same time. This is why it has affected the stock market. Businesses will be shut down b/c people are all sick at the same time and unable to work. A flu takes 1-2 weeks to fully recover. Think of when your entire family gets sick at once, how hard it is to care for your sick children. Bring that out to an entire company getting sick, how do they care for their business. Now think of an entire country getting sick including the medical personal that cares for the sick. Next year, they will have a vaccine, but this year I agree will be a year to remember in regards to “It’s just the flu”.

BTW some people suggested the March 4th layoffs didn’t happen b/c of the virus, I think that’s a viable thought. I bet they are suddenly thrilled to have telecommuters set up to work from home in the event of a pandemic. After we all step up to the plate and knock it out of the park for this company during a trying time. Well, that’s when they will lay us all off.
