Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

NO BONUS!

I did NOT receive a bonus; however, I have been on calls where $500 Bravos were given to the first three people to ask a question and then another call where $250 Bravos were given for doing nothing more than asking a question! Again, why did I work so hard, if all it came down to was my ability to ask a question?

I’ll ask a question.... are you happy you laid off a bunch of WAH employees?????

Well..There are a lot of people out there that worked at UHC for years, worked hard, were great at their jobs but instead of receiving fantastic parking spots and multiple promotions were given layoff notices.

I get that there is someone here that thinks really well of himself — all I can say is, I am glad someone does. Be thankful you were given the parking spot and the promotions and you were not one of your teammates that were let go. Enjoy your perks and try not to step on others as you move up the ladder, someday you could fall off that ladder.

No sure what the last poster is talking about. I don’t have sc-aped up knees from favors if that is what you are getting at.

I do have a big fat bonus, great parking, and numerous promotions. But like I told you earlier, I’m an exceptional employee, been told that by the VPs. Was called in last week and being told I’m under paid while my teammates were being let go. You can’t be a whiner or a wiener and survive. You got get off your fat wobbly a$$ and start showing your worth.

Come on guys we all know winners get something for nothing.

Its the American Way!

Go to the store, pay nothing get something. Just last night I went to Starbucks paid nothing and they gave me a coffee.

WINNING

OMG this is hilarious

After realizing they had no idea whiners was a word lady tried to find words that rhymed with "whiners" and went with winners thinking that would settle things.

Last post is spot on. Wonder if they can read that. This is why the company is in the dumps....bunch of dummies thinking they are winners. Lol

“This is a very very good company with a lot of whiners who want something for nothing.”

Let me get this straight, you read that sentence and thought To yourself he meant winners?

Let’s go ahead and plug that in

“A lot of winners who want something for nothing”

Does that statement make sense to you? If it does no wonder you were laid off lol

It’s the only way to communicate with my teammates who were all let go. I want to attempt to teach them how to improve their self worth so they do not repeat these patterns

Congratulations to the dude with the parking spot and the multiple promotions. Why are you posting on a layoff board? From reading the post, arrogance must be one of the UHG core values.

It’s true that everyone works hard. And it’s also true that they can get rid of you at any moment. Not to gloat, but I’m exceptional, very exceptional and I’ve been told that by several admin level folks. I watched a team dissolve around me while I’m behind closed doors getting yet another big bonus. I’ve felt bad at times getting exceptional parking privileges, while others have wobbled out to there cars- but I’ve earned every bit of it. I’ve been told I live and reflect the mission that is UHG. I feel bad- but I cannot apologize. I’ve found my match at UHG for now and I continue to excel at every point of the business. I do wish everyone well. Some people just weren’t cut out for their jobs, so when layoffs happen, it’s easy to weed out. Just the way it is...

To everyone that “worked hard to get promoted quickly and got that parking spot”... when push comes to shove and departments need to make cuts you’re just another number based on overhead expenses. It’s entertaining that you think you can’t be eliminated or replaced at a company that size. You’re obviously not that great of employees if you bother trolling this page.

I’m in the upper management sector of the company. Didn’t start that way, but moved up quickly also. Sorry for those that are not with the company anymore. I’ve worked extra hard as well and I’m good- I’m a damn good, smart, asset to this company. The future is all sunshine for me and it’s my hard work that got me here. I hope you all find green pastures ahead. If not, I’ll toss you a bottle of water on the freeway off ramp. In all seriousness, good luck to all in their future career

SO glad I dumped all my stock at $300. The d..mb a.$ that gloated about working hard to get a good parking spot has issues. I have NO respect for this h3ll hole that lays off US workers to hire offshore. I DO NOT buy insurance with this company because of people like you. One good lawsuit will wish you sold your stock.

Me too. I’ve been promoted multiple times in my short stay at this great company. We have a bunch of dumb-dumbs working here. Glad they are sacking these folks while I enjoy the hard work paying off. I am also enjoying my parking spot and the recent bonus I was awarded that know else received. It’s called hard work. Complaining gets you nothing. Just read this board and you will understand why they are sacking these lazy sack of s$it employees. In the meantime, I’ll keep slugging away while I do my job and yours!!

Reading this board- this company doesn’t have a single winner.

Reading and comprehension must not be required skill for those who this terrible company keeps.

The initial post re whiners was clearly trying to reference winners instead. Here is the sentence:

“This is a very very good company with a lot of whiners who want something for nothing.”

I know what whiners means but you obviously have a lack of comprehension.

From vocabulary.com

whiner - a person given to excessive complaints and crying and whining.

For someone who seems to think they are so educated and articulate perhaps a dictionary would help.

Yes lots of “whiners” lol

For someone who seems to think they are so superior and productive perhaps a little basic education would help.

Not sure what some of you guys are doing. I’ve been here 2 years with 2 quick major promotions- up, up, up the ladder. I got the bonus also as well as parking. VP recently called me in to say I was still under paid. Another good healthy raise on the way while some I guess are paid off and sent out to the pasture.

Some you guys have to get it together. This is a very very good company with a lot of whiners who want something for nothing.

We know who you are - you need to get to work and off the chats.

To the person who got the 20% bonus and a parking spot, you sound like an a–hole. Good for you , but please remember that many of us who were laid off also worked hard. Many many of us were rated 4 or 5 year over year. Try a little compassion. You still could be laid off.. parking spot or not.

For those of you that got a bonus, congratulations. For those who didn't get enough of a bonus or thought you deserved more. boo-hoo! You still have a job, be thankful you weren't one of the thousands that not only did not get a bonus but also lost their job.

I ended up getting a 20% bonus! Plus a parking spot! Although those spots are very narrow so hard to fit in them. It just goes to show that hard work does pay off sometimes.

It has NOTHING to do with working harder, having a degree or even knowing how to do your job.... it’s all about how much a_$ you can kiss and if you are the directors bff. I can’t wait to watch this company tank because nobody wants to talk to a person they can’t understand.... stay working for UHG, gain 70lbs, be bullied by your boss OR find a job that actually treats you humanly! I sold ALL my stock at $300... I hope all the others laid off did that as well. Peace-out

With the layoffs the fact that there were bonuses or merit increases isn't really a surprise

Bravo recognition comes from a separate line item in each department's budget. If they don't use it up, they lose it. I always sent Bravo points to people that helped me out with stuff. People would do the same for me. When I was let go, I had enough Bravo points to get a $200 amazon gift card.

Our department never gets monetary Bravos anymore. We were told that was put on hold. But when we did, they were only about $20 each.

I feel the same way about not getting a merit increase with a 4 rating. Why did I work so hard, for so many extra hours each week. It tells me I am not valued, and no they do not pay for performance.

My manager would try to control their team with BRAVOs. They would constantly say, “I have some BRAVO money” and wave it around like a carrot on a stick, it was humiliating. We finally started telling them that we did not even care about getting BRAVOs. Once they realized they had no power over us to entice us to step all over each other, toss one another under the bus, or work endlessly for a stinking $500 BRAVO, they had no clue how to motivate us. They became dumbfounded with what to do next, but we as their team were able to keep our integrity.

This also happened in our area, if we participate in a meeting, ask a question, or volunteer to take notes we get BRAVOs. These are the skills leadership places the most value on because receiving a monetary BRAVO says, you’ve gone above and beyond expectation. Mind you, there are people who work 70 hours per week, go the extra mile to bring a problem to close, or save the company money by creating efficiency, they do not get a BRAVO. Super easy to figure out what to do, stop working long hours, don’t give extra effort to anything, stop creating efficiency, but make darn sure you ask a question and take notes for other people’s meetings.
