Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

New woke inclusion policies

An email sent to managers informed them of new hiring practices at HON. Starting on March 2, this takes effect:

At least 1 diverse candidate (woman or person of color) MUST be interviewed for EVERY band 3 or band 4 position.

They also have to watch a video on "unconscious bias".

I have no problem with anyone's ethnicity, religion, s-xual orientation or color. I just want the best person for the role to be selected. This is dangerous thinking because it seems to prioritize someones color or background over what their qualifications are. What if your doctor was only selected because of what color or religion they were and not because of their qualifications? What is next, airline pilots?

All I'm saying is that while it's 100% wrong to not hire the best qualified candidate based on their skin color, it's equally as wrong TO hire someone who might not be the most qualified largely based on their skin color.

I was informed that the diverse candidate really meant a "woman", and Indian candidate didn't meet the diversity requirement

1arw+13UBLD0S good for you getting a 6% increase and a promotion. Too bad all you get is a promotion and no raise. CLW announced today that you are not valued, did not do well and will get nothing for a raise and you will like it troll.

Honeywell discriminate against all races, some more than others. They hate higher paid old people.

Forcing minorities to be part of this mess?! All for a tax break!!??? Just hire the best candidate and stop targetting groups that have suffered enough already. HR lost they mind.

Never got anything like this. Nothing here about forcing you to hire someone. Next time you get something like this ask for the business value, that usually shushes them

I don't know why this is a problem for people, because you can't get qualified candidates and are (supposedly) not allowed to hire anyone in the "current environment." Anyone with a brain cell won't apply to work for this train wreck of a company. I never followed that "old policy" and only interviewed individuals who appeared to be qualified for the position (and a number of them weren't), otherwise you are wasting their time and yours.

I’ll believe Hon has changed culture when I can look at an org chart and see women in positions of leadership where they have substantial say in operational strategy, hiring, and decision making. Not support functions like legal, export control, finance, process, quality; but actual large groups of people making goods and providing services. There are some, but look across divisions and they are clearly a small minority.

Clearly the women have a problem: they don’t play enough golf.

Hmm. Looks like I need to start a recruiting company that provides women and people of color for interviews.

Honeywell can pay the recruiting company and the recruiting company employees will be interviewees. Haha. Same employees getting paid to interview over and over.

Interesting when in SPS. HBT and PMT walked out a number of women and minorities including the only female CPO. So wybos don't worry, your numbers and careers are safe

I'm a Hispanic woman in CLW, and I just received a 6.2% raise during my performance review, in addition to a promotion to Senior Advanced Software Engineer.

Sneaky way to hire even more H1b's.

Doesn't matter your color, ethnicity, gender or gender preference. If you are old everyone at Honeywell discriminates against you. Honeywell actively eliminating older people - notice the policy doesn't say anything about being inclusive of age.

Honeywell has shown that location is more important than job performance. Laid off after 25 years, because I was located in the UK. Good luck with it

Nothing illegal about favoring minorities.

The problem with the radical/woke agenda currently being advanced by Corporate is that it naturally creates a hostile work environment for the non-preferred (excluded) identity groups. Also, in terms of new talent acquisition, those excluded groups might have a larger pool to pull from than the preferred groups, and as a result the internal talent pool cannot reach its maximum potential.

Honeywell would do well to bear in mind the old business adage – Get woke, go broke!

Interview all candidates. The only filter that should be applied is whether or not the candidate has the minimum qualifications needed to perform the job.
'Woke', is just a continuation of the bullshetical correctness that has been forced down everyone's throat for decades.

This sort of stuff has been going on for decades in the internal promotion process. Back around '95 (when I was somewhat important) and "behavioral" interviewing was the new thing, the interviewing panel (HR, hiring manager, at least one peer, etc.) came up with a series of questions for the applicants. Everyone was asked the same questions, and the panel graded them, and a number resulted. But, here's where it got fun: points were added for women, handicaps (we were allowed to call them that back then), minorities and veterans. The scores at the end of all this were often nothing like the raw scores after the interviews. This was 25 years ago. . .and here we are.

  • Bit mo–nic to release a policy like this when much of honeywell is on a hiring freeze.
  • We don't hire band fours anyway.
  • Worry more about finding any candidates. Many jobs have no applicants.
  • how many women are going to work for a company with unspoken overtime rules and no wfh unless there is a declared pandemic.

HON has many people of color with H1B visa's on the payroll in leadership roles. Quality of their performance doesn't matter in a functional org to prevent salary transparency.

Let me be clear again.

I have no problem with anyone's color or background or anything. If 5 people apply and they're all qualified and they're all different races, they should ALL get interviews and the best person chosen. If someone is NOT being chosen SOLELY because they aren't certain race, then that is completely unacceptable.

As I stated before, the most qualified person should get the job, not the most "woke". To the person who replied with the tired "white privilege" retort, get over yourself.

Spoken by someone who has no idea what it’s like not to be seen because of your color or gender.

It doesn’t say they have to hire them - only interview them. Scared they might outshine you? Lol

Your privileged, sheltered life is showing.

Great invisible way to slow down the hiring/promotion process to reduce wage spend in the name of wokeness.

"At least 1 diverse candidate (woman or person of color) MUST be interviewed for EVERY band 3 or band 4 position"

Above statement is directly from your post. You comment as if it states a "diverse candidate" MUST be hired. Sounds a bit paranoid to me.
