Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Verizon Retail leaders don't care about our health

Executives sitting comfortably at home looking at reports and asking for more sales, questioning why we are not beating last year's numbers and trying to make us drink their whole Verizon 2.0 Kool-Aid of supposedly being the "Employer of Choice". So we have global crisis, the US Economy has plummeted, all the professional sport leagues in the US have officially been suspended, schools have been closed or moved to On-line, public events have been cancelled, the President declared state of Emergency, we placed a ban on flights from Europe, and the list keeps going on and on. Meanwhile I'm still here, stuck in a store, exposing my health (and my familie's health) for a lousy commission's check. We've been getting robbed every month with unrealistic quotas but February was just the absolute worst paycheck I've ever received as a sales rep. March is not looking any better. My quota increased by about 20%, my store is sooooo slow! we have no Iphone 11's in stock, we barely have any accessories, my GM can't even have a contests to earn a recognizing you, sh–, they can't even buy us coffe anymore!!!! So tell me again, how do you expect me to be a happy employee when I can't even pay my bills and now I'm being exposed to a deadly virus that keeps spreading like wild fire? No masks, no gloves, no signs, no quota relief, no reduced hours, not closing stores, VERIZON: WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? YOUR GREED HAS NO LIMITS!!!!

So they just announced all retail stores will be closed on Sundays and changing hours to 10am - 5pm. Only a hand full will be permanently closed in the LA market till the end of the March. I wonder how this measure will protect us from getting infected? I think sales are more important than health after all. If Apple and Disney can afford to close their doors permanently, why can't Verizon do the same to protect the frontline? I guess the answer is simple....greed. Bet you they're waiting to hear what T-Mobile and At&t will be doing. We have just been followers for a few years, where's the so-called VZ leadership? All about employees? Yeah right...

I can tell ya it’s worse in the network side. The train wrecked about a year and a half ago. You’re just starting to see what happens when there’s no one around that knows anything.

They want to send home the people that are generally not around many people ie:higher ups and executives. While making sure the peon's that are around many people all day are forced to work around alot of people either customers or in a large call center with 1000 employees. Risking not only their own health but the health of their fellow co workers and customers. This will only aid to to the shutdown of America. There are plenty of Home Based agents that can take calls and assist customer for two weeks.

When the US is like Italy and there is a national shutdown and stay at home order that is when Verizon will do something for retail.

“ My quota increased by about 20%, my store is sooooo slow! ”

Smb reps on wireless side are able to work from home for the next two weeks but screw us who are in the stores on the front lines in the NE. Because apparently we are “essential personnel” got a real problem with that when it’s most convenient for the upper management.

Hans says, "look at us in 2.0 world. We are all so happy and the community loves us!". We say, "your pulse surveys are fake and leading, you scare us with layoffs, you don't take care of your own and your message is received as fake . You can't be the employer of choice when no one wants to come to work and you don't pay us fairly when a pandemic impacts our sales.". The bottom line isn't always the bottom line Try harder. We are headed for a train wreck.

Come on the front line employees have always been looked down upon by the corporate elite. Positive publicity would be upper management and the CEO being in the stores and greeting customers and helping them with sim problems, after fixing it the customer puts out his hand and is so happy in his phone is working.or any other things that are coming in for( the open fedexbox syndrome) cant use bill payment machine etc.

You can’t win. If they close the stores and the customers move to online buying, the stores may never reopen as the customers and the company get used to it.

I agree this is the last straw Lowell would have never allowed this. I'm at the very least thinking of calling HR and being like hey I don't feel safe at work, and here's why and then just mention all the presidential announcements, WHO, CDC, local and state government announcements and seeing what they say.

I don't expect the higher ups to really care about my health if they haven't cared about my commission all year long. My manager told me yesterday we getting a "quota adjustment" for Feb, which won't be more than $100 or so. And what about March? When will the quota "gods" understand the numbers they are giving us are completely unattainable? At this point, I just want to stay home and maybe go out on leave until the Coronavirus is under control. I need to do what I need to do, I have a baby at home and can't afford to take any risks for my job. (I will be telling everyone at the store to do the same!) Verizon only cares about making more money by any means necessary. We are just sacrificial lambs, they don't care about safeguarding our well-being. Hans, the ball is on your court now...Time to show up playa, let's see if you can walk the walk and do what's right for us little people.
