Another thing that is new this year:
we no longer get all of our PWA/HSA $ in January
We now get half in January, and if we are still with the company in July, we get the other half.
Oh! And if you are on the medical plan as single, no dependents, you get $500 LESS than in previous years.
So, if you are a person who uses your PWA/HSA $ quicker than others (health issues like diabetes can empty your account in a month), you aren’t going to be able to afford a trip to the urgent care for a COVID 19 test.
How many TMs are going to keep working because they:
1) don’t have insurance at all (part timers)
2) don’t have $ on in their PWA/HSA account
3) don’t have PTO available

Replying to former tm with couple of decades. Yeah you have been gone for too long so your advices are no longer active.

  • The emergency fund is no longer the way you describe.
  • We no longer get all pto hrs at once. It doesnt matter how many service hours you got, any one can donate if they want.

Too many things have change so you might have old info for a lot of things. But one thing you are right on, wfm is not what it used to be.

Best of luck

This is obviously a bunch of BS but I almost expected as much from JM now. Some things to know from a former TM with a couple decades:

  • Each store has access to a TMEF, or a Team Member Emergency Fund. This fund can be used solely at the discretion of store leadership and store PBS (assuming you still have those). True, it requires approval from a point RVP/Exec Ops and often a Regional HR, but like everything, store leadership can get support for it if they are passionate about it. The kicker is that this cash comes straight out of a store's bottom line - AKA straight out of their EVA calculations and, by a tiny amount, store leadership paychecks. The TMEF has to meet slight eligibility guidelines - specifically a TM can't have any unused PTO, has to be a for a medical time off/emergency (HELLO COVID), and the situation must be deemed morally appropriate. In the old stronger TMAG days sometimes they would be involved in approval.
  • Volunteered hours CAN be ok for extremely longterm TMs, those with many thousands of hours worked. I'm talking at least 15K but more in the 25-40K range. Why? Those TMs all have grandfathered PTO accrual tables, and get enormous sums of PTO. It is absolutely their money to keep if they wish, but if you have months, even up to a year of PTO, far be it from me stopping you from donating.

Shoot me q's if you got any, I'll check now and then. Good luck out there. I miss WFM in many ways, but working in a store right now would be tough as hell.

Damn. We really are just a fancy Wal Mart. Next, they'll be giving us instructions on signing up for good stamps. But by all means, keep telling the customers all about those fair trade products! Don't bother considering the wage slaves right here in your own community. That's fine.

Today in the the 12:30pm presidential press conference, Pence just announced they will be providing financial assistance to any hourly wage worker who loses work hours because of coronovirus.

They don’t care about us. Other companies and smaller ones are paying their employees time off. Why should WFM? They just care about the mighty dollar

This is where whole foods needs to show about their core values. So much for JM bragging about it in his book conscious capitalism. He is asking us to take care of ourselves when he is just full of bs. Where is the team member happiness and excellence core value he so much wrote about? All tms should automatically get their full pto hrs up front now instead of getting them little by little every paycheck. Or just give every tm 120hrs of pto no questions asked. This is ridiculous for a huge company as wfm charging ridiculous prices not to be able to provide tms. Every store is making crazy money this week and always had.

In our store the front end is completely crippled and drowning while store leadership and the usual chums are hanging out and laughing in the back. They are all just whooping it up back there talking about sports while our lines are headed down the aisles. It's infuriating.

Haha! In my store at least one of our leadership team, an ASTL is working his a– off. He's ringing at registers, throwing load, kicking a–. The STL is working normal hours never leaving the office and the other ASTL is on vacation. He couldn't have picked a better time. Personally I'd rather work when things get weird. Store leadership did get offered outside help from temp workers but (good for them) they fought for their Tm's and turned it down. They want the extra labor to be given to our TM's who want to work. Overtime is approved. PT TM's can be given up to 40 hours.

TMs are over worked and they ask this of us??!! Thats some bs!!! Why are they not hiring a third party to help with cleaning and sanitizing store?!!! My TL is overwhelmed and his stl gets a email from the overlords every hour on how to clean the store, what not to use, when to clean it, what logs to use, what times to do it, etc etc. It sure is a lot easy to send emails sitting in their fat asses telling us what to do. We are tired, we are exhausted, and they still want us to stay and clean the entire store?!!! I better see my store leadership working 12 hours at least this next two days like I’m working. Yeah ok I’m getting OT but I’m doing it for our community. This is a very unique unprecedented moment and we need all the help we can get. Get your lazy asses off and come to stores to help!!!! Stop sending us emails down our throats and get another party to help clean. WE NEED HELP!!!
