"the need to run IBM as a growth stock (CAPEX) and not a value stock"

This. A technology company has to be a growth company, there is no standing still in this sector.

Nailed it! Many of us are writing a letter to whitehurst / krishna on the need to run IBM as a growth stock (CAPEX) and not a value stock if we have a prayer of surviving the next 5 years. Employee morale is low because we are treated 3rd class citizens [pay. benefits, random layoffs regardless of performance, etc]. Investment in products are poor (understaffed) and the services skill level is getting lower every year. There is little talent left in IBM except those hanging in to retire and don't want to move out of their area since they can still WFH. I predict IBM is going to try and sell itself in pieces if they can't turn the boat around in 2 years.

Three Things in the past 20 years have doomed IBM -
1 - Share Buybacks
2- Offshoring employees to India and China
3- IBM Management in Westchester/NYC are like La Famiglia or the JDL. Insulated gangsters who can do anything with impunity.

I wish all my IBM Friends the best of luck!
