IBM leaves 65 employees clueless about their futures

It's good to talk: Union says IBM failed to consult system support techies as Scottish Power contract nears end
TUPE or not TUPE? That is the question. Unison calls on lawyers ahead of 30 June D-Day

@Wells I am sorry to say but your leadership lied to you to avoid a mass exodus before you contracts expire. Read this site, Watching IBM, Reddit- others before you have had the same experience. If you and your team are smart, you’ll have already begun looking and hopefully be leaving within Q1.

I've heard/seen same thing. It's tragic actually. Someone who gives 20 or more years of their working life to this place. Is let go for no cause of their own. Just to fill some quota of RAs a department has. And then is ineligible to be picked up by another org in this 300K + person company, because some group of twits sitting around a boardroom table in Armonk decided it be so. Terrible way to treat people.

I second the last comment. If you are marked for RA, you are wasting your time applying to other internal jobs. You might as well be radioactive. They won't touch you. This has been the experience of many folks I know.

Looking within the company sounds like a good prospect until you discover that managers are forbidden from making an offer. Look all you want but you won't find.

AT&T Tech Dev employees who were outsourced to IBM had a meeting on last Friday with the AVP and they were told if they are among the lay-off when the contract expire in August , they could look within the company for other jobs at IBM we are thinking our contracts will be extended and we will get to keep our high salaries that we received from AT&T.

Amen to that. If any IBMer is planning their financial future with their IBM paycheck as being part of it, they are treading on thin ice.

Any IBMer that does not have a polished resume and an exit plan is foolish. Always plan on being let go after your next paycheck.

Every outsourced person gets screwed one way or another so no great shock here. However, good to see the unions involved and a sense of collective action - a strategy that existing employees should pay heed to.
